Project Update: It's Over!

It's over!

Thank you!

Seriously thank you very much for backing Netcrawl RPG. I am honored to have you on the team.

I had a bunch of fun with Joey Royale as we slapped together a little crowdfunding show on Goodman Games Official Twitch. Thanks to Goodman Games for the use of the channel. And thanks to Alana Thompson for engineering the show.

We didn't end up playing through the conclusion of the adventure, but I promise to turn it into a little digital solo zine or something along those lines so you can finish it on your own.

So close to breaking the stretch goal for the GM screen, but I am in no way disappointed. We put it all out there! It has been an amazing campaign and exceeded my expectations. I'll certainly be providing some PDFs of player handouts, reference booklet of important tables, and the screen for you to print at home.

Join Us on Discord & Patreon!

There's been several new people on the Discord and Patreon. Come on over and join us. A new mechanic of Access Control dropped on the Patreon a few days ago. I'm be talking about why and how to use it later this month in the Developer Diary. I'll be posting the Update Patch from the Patreon here every month (usually published on the 20th).

I'm going to get some rest. Thank you all again.

Project Update: Update Patch December

Play Test

Julian Bernick has completed his play test of The Battle at the End of Time and is finalizing the manuscript. Julian has been a great help to the overall development of Netcrawl and I'm extremely fortunate to have him along for the ride. Shane Kablooey Madgett also ran Netcrawl in Calgary back on Dec 5th. Other play test groups are popping up here and there. Want to run some at your table? Talk to me on the Discord.

Layout

The first adventure, In Space No One Can Hear the Robopocalypse, is nearly finished! I'm waiting on some art and we'll be ready to share it out to all Patreon supporting and free members. You could start playing the 0-level adventure at home after the new year, just sign up at the Patreon.

Writing

Finishing touches are being put on the main manuscript. The main rule book is pushing towards 200 pages! Which might strain the budget. There might be an appendix in the PDF that adds in some repeated content (most likely programs from Enchiridion that are core to the game). Donn Stroud and Julian Bernick are starting on some ideation tables for Netcrawl: Arcologies.

Editing

Jeff Scifert finished primary pass through the main rule book and should have The Battle at the End of Time to work on very soon. Craig Langrall has been a great help editing all the programs that have been developed for Netcrawl and a handful of "core" programs in Enchiridion have also been edited for Netcrawl style.

Swag

A month ago I promised pictures of swag and stretch goals, here they are:

Loz, the Eye Wizard

Exciting news! The Netcrawl + Eye Wizard boxes arrived from France this month! Check them out!!! These custom, hand-cut stencils, and hand-painted boxes will be going out to only 20 lucky backers. I've reserved a very small number for future charity type situations.

Character Sheet

Updated Netcrawl character sheet is available. Lots of good feedback from the play test tables helped flesh it out. Try it out! Now room for storage (I guess that mechanic needs to be published sometime soon), credits, places to document RAM for daemons, skills are their own panel, etc. I'll probably work up some class specific layouts for Functions and Notes sections, but this version is going to go to print for the pad of character sheets.

Token Collect

Brian and I are play testing the mini adventures for Token Collect. There's also some images to look at. First the cover by Łukasz Kowalczuk! Our combined corporate name is SMEGCO.
And the tokens for Cross Collab Achievement stretch goal are in the house, too!
Sweet token collection! Everyone who backed both campaigns will get these 35 tokens to use with the adventure.

Happy Holidays

That is quite a info dump. I hope you are as excited as we are. Happy Holidays and see you in the New Year!

Project Update: Update Patch November

Backerkit News

Pre-Orders
I've opened up the pre-order store. Adventures will be made available to buy as a group or individually in early 2025. https://netcrawl.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
Surveys
Surveys will be sent out sometime in the next couple of weeks. It's time for me to start planning my next steps with international shipping and I need to see all your fine addresses. Also those of you who added on the Create a Virus assignment, will be contacted soon to begin the process.
Physical Stuff
The WorldNet poster map, bookmarks and stickers for backers have all arrived. We're waiting on a logotype design for the Token Collect tokens that were unlocked, then we'll send those out to the printer.
Editing
I've been busy writing and that means editing needs to happen. Jeff Scifert and Craig Langrall have joined me on the quest for clarity, proper grammar, and fewer typos.
Layout
Finished content needs to go to layout! Which is where I'm spending my other free times. The most exciting part of all that is commissioning art. In Space No One Can Hear the Robopocalypse is in layout and print run is paid for.
Writing
Brian "Neon Lord" Shutter has shared his 1st Token Collect mini-adventure based on Gauntlet. Brendan LaSalle has checked in with progress on his adventure. Julian Bernick's is in rough draft status and a play test will happen at Planet of the Cyclops Con. I am busy writing various things for the main rulebook and Token Collect. Things are moving along on all fronts nicely.
Art
I've been looking for some new artists, and I found this beauty by Helm. This amazing piece of pixel art will appear as a full page image in the Netcrawl RPG main rulebook. I'd play that avatar any day.

Stefan Poag is on cartography for Robopocalypse and after that is a cover for Brendan LaSalle's adventure.
I'm bringing in some new artists to help spread the load, but Colin Richards, Robbi Burns, Steven Gomez, Juan Ochoa, Jayna Pavlin, J. LaBelle (Sinerous) and John G are working assignments for Robopocalypse. Robbi Burns already turned in their piece!
Cover Artist Announcement!
Lastly, I'm excited to announce that the Peter Mullen is working on the cover of the 4th level adventure, Battle at the End of Time! If you know Peter's work, I'm sure you're as excited as I am!

Events

I'll be at PAX-U December 6th - 8th. I don't have anything on the books, but if you'll be there let me know. I'll probably be near or at the Goodman Games booth. I'm sure there is going to be some after hours hi-jinx. Maybe I'll run some Netcrawl.
U-Con Recap
I ran 2 sessions of Hunt the Wumpoid from Token Collect. Both sessions were great and worked quite well. A few tweaks on the 2nd session got it pretty well dialed in. Really pleased how it turned out.
I also ran a session of Julian Bernick's 4th level Netcrawl adventure, Battle at the End of Time. I was able to get through 3/5 sections. A bunch of veteran gamers at the table (Keith Nelson, with Tor & Bjorn, Roxual Barger). Adventure has a bunch of classic Bernick in it. It will be great.

Project Update: Update Patch October

First I want to share with you how grateful I am for your support. This campaign was amazing and you all made it happen. As of right now most pledges have gone through with only 15 people having issues with their payment. Your pledges are so important to producing all the great stuff that you helped make possible.

Speaking of that stuff, I've began ordering the stretch goals and backer bonuses that will accompany your orders. So far I've ordered the WorldNet Posters, the Netcrawl bookmarks, and first 48-hours backer stickers. You'll get a look at the sticker & bookmarks in next month's Update Patch. Here's some photos from the printer of the posters. I bumped the size up an inch to 14"x20". I'm not sure if I'll booger glue them into the books or just put them in the box loose. I think most this stuff will arrive before the end of October.

Julian Bernick has finished his first pass at his 4th level adventure, The Battle at the End of Time. I hear it will be ran by Julian at the Goodman Games' Planet of Cyclops Con and by me at U-Con, in Ypsilanti, MI. Brendan recently checked in on his progress. I am organizing the final corpus, dubbed Netcrawl RPG v0.9, working on adventure, and Netcrawl: Arcologies.

Lastly the Ypsi-Arbor Archveults [Gongfarmers Local #420] have been getting together and playing Netcrawl RPG. Big thanks to Donn Stroud, Mark Donkers, Paul & Robin Linkowski, David Serra & George & Justin Davis for their time play testing the game. It's going to be a great winter.

Discord

Keep your eyes peeled for online Netcrawl RPG sessions. Things are busy at home right now, but I promise to run something on the server before the year is out. First priority seating goes to Patreon supporting members. Netcrawl Discord link.

Appearances

The October episode of Spellburn will focus on Grimdark style games and invoking Nick Baran! Tune in to Twitch.tv/GoodmanGamesOfficial on October 28th at 9pm Eastern to catch the skin-crawling, puss-spewing, panic-inducing interview*.
* Disclaimer: Neither Nick, nor talking with Nick, actually cause any of those things to happen.

Patreon

This message was posted over on the Netcrawl patreon and each month I will post there first and then I'll get around to sending an update from Backerkit.
