Project Update: The Academy
Alright folks! You wanted to hear more about the Academy and we aim to please. Above Ithaca, crowning The Lift, Ithaca’s only space elevator, Hewitt Gateway is a nearly two day trip up to geostationary orbit from Hewitt Spring. The space port is divided into two sections: the Terminal and the now defunct Teamster Academy.
The Academy
The first lesson the Academy teaches is a crash course in Zero G because the whole place is without gravity. The academy was defunded by Ithaca’s government supposedly because of its ties to radical student activism and the associated drug trade.
Inside you'll find:
Unlicensed Vendors
Vendors occupy most alcoves and remote spots with wares in paracord nets, floating from whatever they can tie them to. Rope ladders and nets facilitate access to more surfaces for more real estate.

Dorms
The Gateway’s most destitute are so emaciated they wouldn’t survive in Ithaca’s gravity meaning the Gateway’s security damn well can’t evict them, so they figured they might as well let them squat at the shuttered university. Now everyone squats there.
Training Bays
Formerly training areas for mechanics, pilots, and industrial workers, these spaces have been mostly ransacked. What was left of the pilot simulators and assorted electronic parts have been bashed together to create VR arcade consoles which are collectively maintained by the community. Popular among Ground Control users.
Paper Palace
Named after the fantasied opulence of living surrounded by real, organic paper, this holo-theater and club was repurposed from the university’s data tape library.
...and more!
Make sure to stay tuned for the results of our other polls and discussions! We have more surprises planned. Not more Achievements though. ESPECIALLY not a super cool, super special one at $10k.
