PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Big Update: Cross Collab, Retailer Tier, and MORE!
Hey folks! We waited a few days on this to cram as much into this announcement as possible. Yeah we could have sent a million emails with all we have going on, but we're trying to keep that to a minimum. We hope your in box appreciates us as much as we appreciate your support.
NPC Poll Results
First off, we have the results of our poll [link goes here]! You wanted to hear more about Dickhead Dale, and we're going to tell you more.
The Hole, a punk rock bar, caters to the disabled and terminally ill. On Ithaca, with it's toxic, strip mined lowlands surrounding the mountain cities on all sides for thousands of miles, poor work place safety standards, and Arrow Biomed run amok, Cancer Punk has evolved. Cancer punk, the intersection of radical disability advocacy, militant environmentalism, and music louder than God, gets played almost every night at the club where Dickhead bounces.
Dickhead Dale, Bouncer in Chief
Dickhead earned the moniker from the two scars he sustained from the brain surgery he underwent. The one runs from front to back, over the top of his skull and is deep, supposedly resembling a urethra. The other runs from behind one ear, around the base of his skull, to behind the other ear. He wears the scars and name with pride, always keeping his head freshly shaved. Dickhead is eternally grateful to the radicals at the People’s clinic that operated on him, free of charge, after he suffered a traumatic brain injury on the job.
Suffering from intermittent muteness, especially when pissed off, Dickhead doesn’t mind letting his brass knuckles do the talking. Dickhead is an obvious former Sunblock user with sallow, unhealthy skin, and bulging muscles. The only thing he hates more than TERFs, is Arrow Biomed, Sunblock’s original manufacturer.
Retailer Tier
By popular demand, we're adding a retailer tier for preorders of Straight Arrows. For $90 you get 9 zines, 10% off wholesale, just for backing! Additionally, we'll throw in a 2 patches, a sticker, and one of our maps! For additional preorders of wholesale goodies, feel free to reach out.
Cross Collaboration!
We've got some exciting news! Straight Arrows and Dog Eat Dog are teaming up! We'll let you know the details when they're all hammered out, but you should expect a little sumthin' sumthin'. It'll be cool, we promise. If you haven't checked them out yet, what are you waiting for?

BIG NEWS: Secret Achievement!
We said there wouldn't be any more achievements to...achieve? Unlock? Unleash? Whatever, we totally lied. We're going to be making a digital tool to streamline the patient generation and investigation procedures we unlocked previously. We haven't talk much about those mechanics, but expect to hear more soonish. Our thoughts were that it'd be pretty dope to make a tool that allows you to cut your Warden prep time down by helping generate targets and investigation plot hooks based on the numerous awesome random charts and encounter tables we're currently working on. Yeah, that's right, some sick tables, and we're far enough in the development to already be working on stretch goals. Full disclosure: we don't intend to fulfill this achievement by the time we send out the final zine and other goodies. That said, the rules as written will be 100% functional and easy to use for creating your investigations, people of interest, and prospective patient targets. This tool will just automate that process and add some cool visualizations. With RACComputing (Ryan) and Bee's background in digital game design, this is a 100% realistic achievement, that we are committed to making in a timely fashion after fulfilling the rest of the project goals. That is, if we make our $10,000 goal. So tell your friends and maybe grab a couple freebies to put us over. We appreciate every sent you contribute and really hope we can afford to create this tool for y'all.
As always,
Your grateful Straight Arrows team

We're adding a digital tool to streamline the creation of investigations and patient targets!
Goal: $7,683
/ $10,000
76%
We need $2,317 more to reach this goal.

WORNE TALKS ABOUT HIS MAP MAKING PROCESS
Worne, our map maker had some words to say about the process making maps for Straight Arrows:
When designing anything for games, I think the best principle is ensuring that every element makes logical sense. When everything has a purpose it's easier for the players to understand and make use of and get immersed in their surroundings.
The Archer Farm map is a good example. I got the description of the place from Ryan as a starting point. Than I made research, looked up how these kind of places look like and operate. Based on these I made some drafts for Ryan to make sure it aligns with the original vision. Some of the main features of the area are the facilities scattered all over the map for all the different activities. In contrast the other most notable features are the somewhat hidden but strongly present security. I was imagining all the potential scenarios and unexpected actions the players might attempt if it comes to it. Only when I had a solid idea how it should look I started working on the actual map. Started with pencil on paper than gone over it with sharpies and erased the pencil lines.
I been using sharpies to make black and white maps for my rpgs for some time. It creates a unique look that draws the attention on the table but also leaves enough to the theatre of the mind.
The penthouse was going to be an isometric map. But that wouldn't have given back the weirdness of the burtalist architecture made to be elegant enough to be a luxury apartment. So I decided to make it a blend of 3D and 2D. This came with it's own problems. As I have much less space on the page for some of the detail. Other parts of the map got obscured. I was worried about these problems and it would have been a simple solution to just drawing an isometric map. But anyone could get an isometric floor plan from the internet. Instead I started drawing and experimenting to find an optimal layout for this 3D representation of this place that is memorable and characteristic for Ithaca.
Worne's perfectionism really comes across in his work. He goes above an beyond and we can't wait to show you more of his work.
Last Chance to Vote on which NPC we detail in our next update!
Check out our polls and take part in the discussions to help determine what we preview from the module. We want to give you what you want! Make your case for who you want revealed in the poll discussion and try to rock that vote! Dickhead Dale looks like the clear front runner right now, but it could definitely be Mary Justice or even Dennis. We'll see how it goes tomorrow at noon EST.
Thank you for all the support and helping make this passion project a reality.
With much gratitude,
The Straight Arrows Team

PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Hit our "Last" Achievment
Hey y'all!
I'm really excited to announce that we hit our next Achievement! We managed to hit our final, ULTIMATE goal in under 24 hours and I'm really excited to tell you more. We are putting additional maps on the back of the FREEBIE 11x17 map all physical backers are getting! We'll be sharing more about that when we have more to tell you about the maps.
With that said... if this weren't our last achievement, which it TOTALLY, 100%is, what would you want out of a digital tool that hypothetically a team, that wasn't us, would make, for a module that isn't this one? Allegedly. This would be a completely imaginary SUPER SECRET ACHIEVEMENT, that would some how assist in running a game, rolling up NPC patient target patient bounties, set the mood, or something similar. Please comment on this update about what you would want out of a NONEXISTENT, $10,000 Achievement. Or don't, because it's not happening.
On to less fictitious discussions, make sure to vote and comment on what you want to hear about next! Our next updates will be based on out polls. Which location do you want to hear more about? It looks like the Defunct Teamster Academy is the front runner so far. After that, which NPC do you want to hear about? In that poll, Dickhead Dale, the bouncer, is leading. Stay tuned!
With sincerest gratitude,
The Straight Arrows Team
