Hello Backers! An image-heavy update for you today...
ποΈ Pre-Order Store
First of all, the pre-order store is finally open: HERE!
If you know of anyone who missed the campaign and would like pins and other spooky goodies, let them know! As a reminder, this is NOT for current backers. You will be charged for shipping twice if you use the pre-order store. If you'd like more add-ons, you can add more to your pledge when the Backer survey is sent out.
Charm Artwork Finalized!
The artwork for the large, double-sided acrylic charms are now done. Some of this artwork will also appear on 5x7 inch soft touch prints.
Vectors and Sample Progress
After some back and forth, I've approved all proofs and I am waiting for pin samples to be produced, while sticker samples are already on their way to me!
There are some differences between the original raster mockups used in the campaign and the vector artwork. Most changes are extremely minor, but I want to outline them here for full transparency and also for those of you that find that sort of thing interesting.
On the left, the original mockups, on the right, vector files. Keep in mind that colors in person will differ from the colors on screen.
Most importantly, the moth design (Entry No. 256) had some small cut outs around the antennae closed at the recommendation of my manufacturer. I'm not too surprised, these cut outs were pretty optimistic. I still love the moth overall! The following are exactly the same, just with wiggly bits cleaned up, especially stars/sparkles/diamonds.
All framed pieces have a few extra details in their frames. Each framed piece now has a crescent moon element. A few bits of clothing also break the frame of "Family Portrait." I'm not sure if this will even be noticeable at 2 inches, but I still think it's cool! As outlined previously, the "Portrait of a Curator" design was updated. A very minor color adjustment in the center of the teapot. Now all of the submerged tentacles are the same color. The Flower has been pushed more toward pink instead of gray, and I love it. The Pantones I chose are still very desaturated and dustyβthe on-screen pink color is a lot brighter than the Pantone chip.
My manufacturer didn't have a problem with the cut outs on the 3" deer pin! So as far as I know, the deer design is good to go as-is.
What Next?
Waiting to receive samples! If things look good with the pin and sticker samples (especially the pins), I'll get the survey ready to go. I've already set up most of the survey and have begun building shipping tables, so surveys shouldn't take long to get sent out when the time comes. Aside from pins and stickers, I've also confirmed that I can get a pre-production photo of an iron-on patch sample.
More details about the large, double-sided charms (which effects will they have?). I'd like to dive into this in the next update in a few days, as this update is already so image-heavy I'd rather not clutter things up further.
I think that's it. As usual, thank you for your patience. We're getting closer and closer to surveys/production and I'm very excited! :D
Just a quick update this evening to let you know how things are progressing!
π Pin & Sticker Samples
β Every "main collection" pin has been made into a vector and sent to my pin manufacturer. β Sticker files have been built and sent to my sticker manufacturer.
π¦ 3-inch "Six-Legged Stag" Pin Add-on
β The design of the stag pin is done! The vector is also complete, but I might make some tweaks after sleeping on it.
The finished stag vector!
This pin will be roughly 3 x 3 inches, feature glitter bones, and have screen-printed stars/dots on top! My manufacturer rep didn't note any issues with the design, but also said they would know for sure if any of the cut outs need to be changed once they take a closer look at the vector file. So there is a possibility some cut outs may change shape or get moved around. Please also note that the final color will differ, and will very likely be darker once printed.
It's pretty close to the charm design, and I'm quite happy with it! The vector file will go out to my manufacturer tomorrow.
I've already received some digital proofs from my pin manufacturer, and things look good so far! Fingers crossed the samples turn out well.
π What's next?
The Acrylic charms are close to finished, but the artwork needs that final bit of polish and detail, along with some boosted contrast. I hope to share those within the next week, along with mockups of possible effects (glitter, holographic, or colored acrylic).
The iron-on patch artwork needs cleanup.
The pre-order store is still underway!
Then, I plan to get some photos of the sticker and pin samples, so you can see how the mockups translate to the real thing! I'd like to get samples/photos of other add-ons as well, but please know that I may not be able to get samples of everything. I'll keep you updated on that front.
If the samples I receive are looking good, I'll build the surveys and move toward getting them sent out. No estimate on when those will be sent out quite yet.
I think that's all for now! Thanks for all of your patience. It's been a lot of work to get all of these files made, but I'm really happy with them. I can't wait to start receiving samples. ποΈ
Payments for pledges have begun processing, and there are currently 36 failed payments! You will receive an email from Backerkit letting you know if your pledge was successful or if it failed, so please double check your email. You can update your payment in your account dashboard, and Backerkit will attempt to charge you again. Here's a helpful article on updating your payment if you still need help!
As far as I know, you have until the 27th of February to update your payment method so your pledge is successful! Pledges that are still unsuccessfully collected after that point will be cancelled.
π Archive Update: One Week(ish) Later
Vector Design Files:
This has been slow going, but I'm halfway through turning every pin into a vector and choosing Pantone colors. This step also includes cleaning up any wiggly bits or lumpy areas of my mockups. I've also decided to send these vectors to my sticker manufacturer instead of my original raster mockupsβso I apologise for the delay on sticker samples! I was too eager in announcing these samples, but I haven't forgotten them! I also plan to vectorize the patch design to ensure accuracy and smooth shapes.
"Portrait of a Curator" Design Update:
This pin is updated and finalized! I love the changes, though they're nothing major. My intent was to make this pin more intricate and interesting, and reflect some changes the character went through without altering the foundation of the design. While he usually has an eye on his left side, the eye just didn't look as good on that side! I also didn't change of the shape of the eye to keep him consistent with "Family Portrait."
The new version is the vector, you may notice color differences.
"Cervinae Hexapoda" Pin Design: This pin design is quite close to done! It needs some cleanup, however. I like the colors so far, but may make further adjustments to them. I also want to check with my manufacturer first that there are no issues with the cut outs and that they offer the effects I'm thinking of. Nothing too fancy, but I'm considering glitter (on the body or the bones? I'm not sure yet) and screen printed stars on top! β¨
Work In progress! Lots of wiggly bits still.
Charms: I will be creating a mockup of a few different effects: holographic, glitter, and translucent colored acrylic. I posted a poll asking which effects acrylic charm folks prefer, but honestly, it's probably hard to vote on something without a mockup of how they may look, so I'll return to this question before ordering them.
Pre-order Store: I've begun setting up the pre-order store. I'm in the beginning stages of importing all items, and I need Backerkit to fix something on the backend, but I hope to have that buttoned up in the next couple of weeks. As a reminder, this is how late backers can get in on the project, but is not intended for current backers, as you will be charged twice for shipping! When surveys go out, you will have to option to grab more add-ons, if you are so inclined. :)
And now, back to vectoring... I will be in touch next week with another update!
Posting this a touch early, as there's a little over 1 HOUR LEFT!!
From the bottom of my heart: a huge THANK YOU to all of you for bringing Moon Hollow Archive to life! ππΎ
I never dreamed this campaign would see so much success. I was optimistic it would be funded, but honestly, I was mentally prepared to have an initial stretch goal or two unfunded π As this is my first Pintopia, I didn't know what to expect! I'm so excited to get everything made, and it means so much that these concepts and pin designs resonate with so many people.
All the pins!!
I'd love to explore Moon Hollow Archive more in the futureβI think there are so many spooky curios and haunted objects waiting within the void for their chance to become real ποΈ I also have some ideas brewing for entirely different (but still entirely spooky) pin themes. But for now, I'm so excited to get all these pins and fun add-ons made.
Pre-order Store β After campaign end, there will indeed be a pre-order store! So anyone that missed out on the campaign will have the chance to grab these pins. With everything else going on, I just haven't had time to set it all up just yet. I'll let you folks know when that's ready. Quick Survey Note π As for the survey, I'm going to wait a bit longer than I initially estimated. I'd like to have artwork completely finalized and ideally, samples made of everything first. I'd love for backers to see what each physical item looks like when deciding on the designs they want, and I want to be certain every object is turning out well!
Artwork Update π¦ As I mentioned in the last update, this pin, "Portrait of a Curator" will soon receive an update to match how the character changed over the campaign. I want to give his shoulders a more sleek look, similar to the clothing shapes in the "Family Portrait" pin, plus give his head a little more structure and likely some more shadow tendrils . But that's about it! More of an enhancement and not a redesign.
This is the design in question!
I will have more news and status updates very soon.
We're in the home stretch of Pintopia 2025βI can't believe there are only 48 hours left! Now is the time to finalize your pledges!
Firstly, the washi tape is unlocked and the design is DONE! :D It's now available as an add-on.
Please note, there will likely be differences in color when printed!
And there is quite a bit of interest in the "Six-legged Stag" design as a pin. I hear you! I am going to be turning it into a deluxe, 3" enamel pin. π¦ With so little time left, it won't be ready by campaign end, but definitely as a survey add-on (and at a campaign-discounted price)!
The celestial, purple toned version is what I'll base the pin on.
Until then, the stag is also available as a new sticker option (and is now included in the "every sticker" add-on at no extra charge). As a reminder, you can choose your sticker designs in the BackerKit pledge manager.
I'm hustling to finalize more artwork and get vectors in order for my manufacturer. I will also be making some tweaks to the "Portrait of a Curator" pin designβnothing drastic, just making him a bit more elegant and a little less like a noodle. I'll keep you all updated!
Thanks again for all of your support and excitement for Moon Hollow Archive!
