Project Update: January Status

Hi all! After a holiday break, and ramping back up in January, we’re moving along in getting Devil’s Due ready. Read on for updates on the different moving pieces.

Radio broadcasts for pirate crews and missions are moving along. Joshua Justice has been creating the scripts and recording with a voice actor. These will be a really fun way to bring some added depth to mission hooks, enticing players to travel to Devil’s Due, or learn more about the topic. Joshua’s been collaborating with the authors of each piece to make sure the details are right.

Editing has begun, our three-person editing team—Jordan, Chris, and Jet—have split the work up after collaborating on our style guide. This work is going to continue into March. We’ll be able to estimate when this will wrap up as they get momentum and the different missions, locations, pirate crews, and random tables are completed.

Artwork across the book is progressing, and we’ve written the briefs for our seven new full-spread art pieces from our unlocked achievement. The artwork itself will likely happen over the next month or two as we get the schedule and commissions sorted over soon. I’m personally very excited about having large art like this to really help set the tone for each mission.

The briefs for the second patch and tattoo have been written, with plans to create the artwork in February. With the tattoos, your players will be able to mark themselves as a bonded, forged-in-the-vacuum crew as they arrive at Devil’s Due. I’m also happy to confirm that we will have both Devil’s Due patches available as add-ons in the Pledge Manager. If you missed out on the early bird patch, or want multiple copies, this is for you!

Speaking of the Pledge Manager, it’s open for late pledges, if anyone you know missed the campaign and still wants to back. The surveys for all backers will be sent out closer to fulfillment.

Other Projects
Separate from our work on Devil’s Due, a few of us have smaller projects also in the pipeline! Come take a look at everything else our team is working on:
  • Fear of a Daily Planet by Jordan Boschman: a 36-page lost colony crawl for Mothership. Explore a long-forgotten printer colony full of cults and mystery, funding on BackerKit on February 4.
  • A Secret Chord by RV Games: a 48-page cosmic horror adventure for Mothership, funding on BackerKit on February 4. Inspired by The Blood on Satan’s Claw, The Mummy (1998), and the music of Leonard Cohen, with both Warden and solo hooks to play.
  • Ben King is participating in the Tiny World TTRPG Jam, keep an eye on his Itch page.
  • Emergence by Carson Brown: a 24-page funnel adventure of inmate clones attempting to escape a crumbling prison. Coming to Kickstarter on February 11.

Like many other crowdfunding projects, we’re aiming to update once a month at a minimum. If you’ve got any questions feel free to post in the community, comment on our updates, or find us on social media.

Cheers,
Carson and the rest of the Devil's Due team
