Project Update: Project Launches in 9 Hours!!
Hello future snoozelings!!
Whether you are currently a member of our little game or someone new and interested in the project, we welcome you all equally. Every ounce of support is appreciated as this is my first original pin project.
In addition to project updates, I will be posting to go into depth about an element of our game each day. Giving a bit of depth to the choices and mechanics behind the project. As well as possible sneak peaks into our future.
What is Snoozelings?
Snoozelings is a Virtual Pet Browser Game (think of games like Neopets or Flight Rising) with a focus on taking care of your health. It is in the genre of games often called cozy/wholesome gaming.
In December 2023, we began a two month closed alpha test where players first got a chance to play our game. I'm not only lead developer of snoozelings but also code the game. That means there were many bugs and features we wanted to iron out before launching.
We launched into Early Access in September 2024 to a small community of at least 50 active daily members. Since our launch four months ago, we have been hunting down (and fixing) bugs while adding new features to the website in monthly content updates.
One of my biggest inspirations to launch Snoozelings was my own struggle with chronic pain and mental health issues that related to my tmj pain. One of the most important things when dealing with bad physical/mental health is to keep a Health Journal to track your daily symptoms. This helps doctors to spot trends that may trigger problems but also can help validate your pain to unbelieving doctors.
The problem is, keeping a journal like this can be a very distressing part of getting better. Sitting down and thinking about your symptoms can cause so much discomfort. This is completely normal, as we don't want to think deeply about our pain. It's much easier mentally to attempt to ignore the symptoms.
That's where the inspiration for our game originally sparked. I wanted my game to bring something positive to the cozy pet community and encourage others to take care of themselves. I want to help people.
That's why one of our first features was an ability to keep a health journal in game. This not only gives you guidance on what items to include in your journal but also frames your journalling in a more positive light by being rewarded with in game coins and praise from your pet snoozeling.
Below is an image of our Journaling page. Your snoozeling will always be there to welcome you and there is a wide variety of quotes. We also have updated the journal artwork recently. Thank you to our amazing artist - Sleepytime - for creating such a cute journal artwork.
That's all for posts today. I will be back with another update when the project launches at 1PM EST.
