Project Update: Update #1: We got some tasty news.
Backers,
Hello hello! We don’t want to take much time, so here it is;
- We’ve raised nearly $40k… mind blowing.
- A question was asked that sparked innovation.
- Current status of Development.
We’ve Raised nearly $40k… mind blowing.
In just a short period of time, we’ve been able to have hundred of backers support us for our newest innovation of Combo Cube (ice*). Woo woo!
But the even cooler thing - no pun intended - is how Pillow Cube got started…
And that is through crowdfunding. Not through financing with a bank or bringing on VC, it was by connecting with an eclectic community of backers, otherwise known as early adopters, who not only believed in us, but put up their hard earned money in helping bring our dream to reality.
We started here and will forever return to crowdfunding for two reasons;
- It. Is. The. Best. Way. To. Validate. New. Ideas.
- It’s become a place for us to provide the best benefits and value to our earliest adopters.
Now, there might be more reasons that emerge overtime, but these two alone justify launching every new product we ever create :)
A question was asked that sparked innovation.
The question came from DixonL,
“I find the last version (5") a little too short for my shoulders. I have the 6" pillow cube that works well when I am on the side, but I am a combo sleeper so not the best. Is there a way for people to buy a 1" foam to add to this or are there other solutions? Thank you.”
Now, when we first read this, it hit us like a ton of bricks… and the reason being because WE’RE ALREADY IN DEVELOPMENT FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS…
But it wasn’t the actual question, but the WAY that it was posed that brought forth the new idea…
Now, we spent about an hour geeking out about this because what germinated from this one question brought forth a host of ideas, iterations, improvements that not only we can add to the Combo Cube NOW… but also do so for future pillows we design as well :)
Now, we’re currently working on some CAD designs to showcase these new innovations and hope to have them rendered well enough to showcase preliminary ideas of them incorporated into the Combo Cube Ice…
The only question is,
“Can our factories actually DO these improvements… and if so, can our factories implement them in time BEFORE we place our initial purchase order for Combo Cube Ices?”
Only time will tell… which is something we’ll fill you in on in the coming updates :) So stay tuned for more :)
Current status of Development.
Current status is as follows:
Our factories have received the new designs and are currently producing what are called ‘top line production samples’ of Combo Cube Ice.
These not only look like and work like Combo Cube Ice (those kinds of samples are called W3L prototypes), it also means that we have coordinated our machines, assembly and production teams in such a way that we can pull the trigger immediately with mass production.
And that’s exciting.

I got the original, and in the email for the pre-campaign and it said that you would explain the improvements over the original combo cube? Did I just miss them?
