ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The tarot is a collection of stories, and Mystic Storyteller: A Writer’s Guide to Using the Tarot for Creative Inspiration was designed to teach writers how to use its stories to craft their own.

Writing is a magical venture, and the tarot is a mystical vehicle that can help guide the imagination and strengthen the craft of storytelling. Writers are creators of ideas, lives, and entire worlds, and those who intuit stories through the magic of intuition and creativity are mystic storytellers.

The tarot is an amazing tool to assist the writer in world-building

With the help of the tarot, mystic storytellers can develop every character who first appears as a hint, shape storylines, build worlds, and turn any idea into a bestseller-worthy page-turner. Tarot cards can also help writers unearth meaningful self-discoveries, shovel compelling ideas into plot holes, chisel away at writer’s block, and even stake out an entire novel or fiction series.

Mystic Storyteller functions as a reference manual, workbook, and storybook all-in-one. As you work with this guide, you will uncover insights, instruction, and activities designed to help you employ the tarot for:

  • Enhancing creativity
  • Strengthening writer’s intuition
  • Inspiring ideas and composition
  • Improving storytelling proficiency through building confidence and encouraging authenticity of voice and style
  • Nurturing rich character- and world-building practices
  • Elevating plot and scene development skills
  • Troubleshooting writer’s block
  • Supporting self-discovery and wellness routines
  • Mapping out a memoir
  • ...and so much more!

A RADICALLY MODERN TAROT

Whether your first or fiftieth, your next story is WRITE in the cards!
Mystic Storyteller functions as a reference manual, workbook, and storybook, and its companion tarot deck was crafted to inspire you to pen your own. With original illustrations by artist Roz Kazaz, this beautiful tarot is radically modern, inclusive, and well.... mystic.

Important: this artwork is hand made, not AI-generated nor AI-enhanced.
Please take a stand against AI-generated decks by supporting living artists and writers :)

ORIGINAL ART ROOTED IN TAROT TRADITION

The symbols and colors in the MYSTIC STORYTELLER are inspired by the Rider-Waite-Smith

The most famous tarot deck in use today is a deck first published by the Rider Company in 1909, based on the instructions of academic and mystic A. E. Waite and illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith, nicknamed "Pixie."

Because this deck is so well-known and well-used, it makes a great model upon which to learn the basics. However, it is over a hundred years old, and as such, lacks diversity and can be... well, kind of hard to relate to. We decided to have a whole new tarot made with writers in mind.

Our King of Cups is a veteran of the Marine Corps, and the cup he holds is for coffee.

Our Pentacles suit employs writing tools, rather than coins. Notebooks, iPads and more.

STRETCH GOALS

Amazing! Writers and tarot lovers, you have just unlocked more resources for the group! THANK YOU!

If we reach $17K in funding, then this project gets approved by BackerKit and we can indeed print and manufacture these products, thanks to your help.

But if we can get extra funding beyond that, it means a few things:
• We can add quality and details to the products
• Our author and artist get more profits to help support their endeavors
• We are freed up to make more fun stuff to thank you with — like a bonus card!

Please help us get there, and beyond!

SHIPPING INFORMATION

When Can You Expect to Receive Rewards?

Once we receive funds, we still have approximately 10-12 weeks of work to complete, before sending the files to manufacturing. Post-production, proofreading, and manufacturing take approximately 8 weeks after that, and freight to our location takes about 30-40 days. Fulfillment of all rewards takes about a month, in our experience. Add that all up and we are estimating rewards to ship in March 2025.

Note this is a product that is scheduled to hit shelves officially in Fall of 2025, so as Backers, you're getting your copies very early.

Important Notes About Rates and Fees

* All rates were obtained by providing the shipping company with ONE postal code. For example, to obtain the EU rates, we used a random Spanish postal code, and compared it to the results from a German postal code. Your rates may be slightly lower or higher.

* We always choose post-paid tariffs/fees on international shipments, so please do your own research on how much you might owe your local delivery service for US imported packages.

* These rates are to help you plan, and prepare, for the end of the campaign when we will charge you separately for shipping, based on your real and actual address.

* Note that we do not ship to commercial addresses; strictly residential. If you need to use a P.O. Box or shipping service in order to support this campaign, please write to [email protected] to request an exception.
