BackerKit FAQ
How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
For the duration of the campaign, which is until the end of August, you have the opportunity to edit your pledge as often as you like, and even to withdraw it. However, once the campaign has ended and we have recorded your order, we cannot offer refunds just because of the nature of how this works. We need solid numbers to order books and decks for manufacturing. If you're not sure, set a reminder for a day before Aug 31st :)
Is there a risk that this project will not be manufactured?
Not really! Unless one of us gets struck by lightning, it's all going to be great! La Panthere Studio has a great relationship with its manufacturing vendors, and over 10 years of experience with product design and creation. We just need your help to jump-start the funding... the rest is our specialty :)
How long until the rewards are delivered?
Typically it takes about 3 months to finalize, edit, produce and ship the products to customers. In this case, we will need closer to 5 months because our artist still has yet to illustrate a couple dozen of the card faces. But the book is written! So, we plan to spend about 2-3 months post-campaign finishing up the cards, refining the packaging, and making final edits on the book, before sending to production. Our current estimate for shipping to customers is January 2025.
Why is shipping charged separately?
BackerKit has a policy to separate the shipping charges from the pledge rewards, and so we really have no choice. But even so, it's a great policy because it allows us to get the very lowest shipping cost for each backer, based on their actual location and parcel weight.
How do we calculate shipping rates?
All of the shipping rates that we quoted on the main campaign page (see "Shipping") were obtained by providing the shipping company with ONE postal code. For example, to obtain the EU rates, we used a random Spanish postal code, and compared it to the results from a German postal code. For the USA rates, we used a Colorado ZIP code and then compared it to a Connecticut one. This is how we made our best guess as to what a reasonable quote might be for your region. All USA rewards will be shipped via USPS Parcel Ground, and all international orders will be shipped via FedEx. These rates are to help you plan, and prepare, for the end of the campaign when we will charge you separately for shipping, based on your real and actual address. Note that we do not ship to commercial addresses; only residential.
Who is the Artist behind the cards?
Roselyne Cazazian, AKA "Roz Kazaz," is our amazing artist. She's a Canadian illustrator with an amazing portfolio... and this is her first Tarot! Check her out on Instagram at @rozkazaz
