BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

How do I get a free mini?

The free 28mm resin miniature of Willow the Witch is available to those who refer new backers. For more information see our update titled - Get a FREE Resin Mini of Willow the Witch. The miniature is also available for purchase as an add-on.

How do I qualify for a free metal d20?

In order to secure your free Earlybird metal d20, you must have backed any physical tier OR have backed a digital tier and added at least one physical add-on. Only backers who pledge within the first 48 hours of the campaign are eligible to receive the Celtic heart d20 for free. The d20 will have no impact on your final shipping price if you have backed any physical tier, but may raise your final shipping price if you have backed a digital tier with a physical add-on. The free metal d20 is added automatically to your pledge during fulfilment.

Do you use Ai Art?

No, and we never will. AI, wether inevitable or not, is a blight on many creative endeavours and industries, not least of all TTRPG. All our illustrations are done by hand, by people who've dedicated time and passion towards bettering their craft. We'd ask that if you want to keep the heart and humanity in the games you love, not to support those seeking a quick buck at the expense of creators worldwide through the use of AI.

Will this be compatible with One D&D/the next version of D&D?

It seems like One D&D, by all accounts, is designed to work and integrate with 5e rather than replace it. So as far as we can tell, Faerie should be entirely usable with both 5e and whatever the final version of D&Ds next iteration will look like!

Why British Folklore?

After our last book, we wanted to dig more into our own cultural backgrounds and build a setting on the folk stories and myths that make up the cultural history of our home, tales we grew up with and loved. Some of its conception is even born of arthurian myth, for those who are as obsessed with the stories of Camelot as we are!

Can I Upgrade my Pledge?

Yes, in the post-campaign survey you will be able to upgrade your pledge. You will also be able to upgrade your version of Faerie to the collector's edition if you didn't back at Baron or Higher during the campaign.

What's the Timeline for Faerie?

We are giving ourselves a final fulfilment date 10 months from the end of the campaign. That means we will start distributing final digital and physical goods around June of 2025.

What did you learn from your last project?

The large success of first time project like Tempest, for a (then) brand new studio like ourselves certainly taught us a lot. We learnt how much the TTRPG community values hand crafted, lovingly made projects from people with passion. We learnt how important transparency and communication is, especially with projects like this. We also learnt just how much goes into making something of quality and scale. Tempest was a trial by fire, and though we have emerged mildly singed, we do so with a confidence only earned by putting in the work. In short; We've learnt a lot, and we've gotten very good at this. Faerie is a project built on the shoulders of experience and informed preparation, tempered by a team that knows its limitations and its strengths.
