BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

I pledged within the first 12 hours! How do I choose what name goes in the credits?

After the campaign ends, we will send out a survey to everyone who pledged within the first 12 hours. You can fill in your preferred name there! Note: we have the right to exclude names we deem inappropriate. Potential reasons for exclusion include but are not limited to: profanity, hateful language, or impersonations.

I want to support but don’t want to use BackerKit. Are there other ways to support Mandelbrot Hall/Studio Flimpo?

Sure! We have a Patreon with plenty of exclusive perks for our supporters, and you can pledge as little as $1- either once or every month. You can also get yourself some non-Mandelbrot merch from our Studio Flimpo shop. Even if you can’t support with money, just sharing this project with your friends is more than enough support on its own!

Where and when can we watch Mandelbrot Hall when it comes out?

The pilot for Mandelbrot Hall will be released on Studio Flimpo’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@StudioFlimpo), free for all! We are planning to release some time around Q4 2025, but that is a very rough estimate and is subject to change.

Shipping is expensive for me! Is there anything I can do about that?

We ship with USPS, which is by far the cheapest shipping available for us here in the United States- so unfortunately no, sorry! However, there are still plenty of digital-only perks available on our BackerKit that don’t require any shipping.

How will shipping charges be managed?

Shipping is charged after the campaign is over via BackerKit’s Pledge Manager; it is an additional cost to your initial pledge. If you want to pledge without paying for shipping, the Flimpo Tip and digital reward-only pledge levels are available.

Can you ship to my country?

If the USPS can ship to your country and you can pay for shipping, then yes. For an up-to-date list of regions which the USPS cannot ship to, click here (https://support.pirateship.com/en/articles/3859826-list-of-countries-not-currently-accepting-shipments-from-usps). We are very sorry if we can’t ship to your country, but we still have plenty of digital-only perks if you still want to support!

How will I receive digital rewards?

Backers will receive a link to a Google Drive folder with your digital materials. If you don’t have access to Google services, please contact us and we’ll send the rewards directly to you via email.

When should I expect my perks to arrive?

We will try our very best to get all orders sent out by the end of 2024. This time frame does not account for manufacturing or shipping delays, worldwide events, or a meteor landing on our garage where we’ll keep the inventory. Regardless, we will keep all backers informed with regular updates. We are a very small team that’s already busy enough with animation- so please be patient! Keep in mind: any original art made during production will not be sent out until after the episode is complete.

Are you hiring?

It depends on how well this crowdfund goes and on how many people we can pay fairly. If we open a position, we will announce it on our social media pages- so be sure to follow us there! We do have a general interest form if you want to share your portfolio with us in the meantime as well: https://forms.gle/LUDdv5tLkzGWhtwQ9

What’s the age rating?

Mandelbrot Hall is an adult animated series, and the pilot episode is recommended for those 16 years or older.

What languages will Mandelbrot Hall be available in?

The pilot for Mandelbrot Hall is in American English; closed captioning and audio description will be available upon release. Subtitles in other languages will also be available depending on demand. One of our stretch goals is a dub of the Mandelbrot Hall pilot in at least one other language, voted by you!
