Project Update: March Development Update
Good evening everyone!
This is a development update for Advanced Rules. You can always view the current draft at the link below.
Our most recent update includes drafts of design sequences for AI, Cybermods, Robotics, and Drugs in addition to including the newest update to Mini-Ships by Greenspore.
The following sections are our todo list for development.
Print Content Development
This is our main development focus at the moment. We want to get everything needed to complete the physical book first.
- d10 AI Contractor Trait Table
- d100 Drug Name Table
- Slickware
- Revision to Zone Maps
- Revision to Grid Maps
- Revision to Dynamic Tables
- Alternate Loadouts
- d100 Patches
- d100 Trinkets
Copy and Line Editing
- As I finish writing or compiling sections, Roz Leahy will take an editorial pass through them. We are in the early stages of this.
Typesetting
- Due to the way this book is being assembled, I refer to the process of a getting the manuscript ready for print as typesetting instead of layout. I'll write an essay for The Adventure Gaming Periodical about this process in the near future. As Roz moves through sections for editing, I will move through the completed sections for typesetting.
Indexing
- We have not started creating the index for the book. We won't start this until all the sections have been edited and typeset.
Final Proofing
- We'll take another editing run through the book looking for typos and formatting errors. We'll make sure all of the accessibility features work properly.
Final Approval from Tuesday Knight Games
- Once we have a finalized copy of the book, we will need to get licensing approval from Tuesday Knight Games. This may result in another round of revisions.
Print Production
Web Site Polish
- We will ensure that the formatting for the live web page format is ideal. Development is prioritizing formatting for print right now.
Supplementary Digital Materials
These materials will hopefully be available at the same time as the physical book, but they may end up being released at a later date at no cost to backers or retailer purchasers.
- The prototypes for the majority of the player and Warden aids have been developed and will soon move to D.N. Wilkie for layout.
- There is now a title for the example solo adventure: Return to STAR Station. This will be a semi-sequel to our module Mitosis: Escape From STAR Station by Chris Airiau.
Late Pledges
If you didn't back during the campaign, you can still express your interest in a Late Pledge either through the link on the campaign page or using the link below; you will not be charged until surveys go out and Advanced Rules is complete and ready to be shipped to you.
We are on track with development, and it's nice to be able to provide a detailed update about the status of the project. We'll return with another update next month!
