How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

[CAMPAIGN] What is a Backerkit Exclusive

Anything labeled "Backerkit Exclusive" is only attainable by backing this campaign or by purchasing from a retail store that backed this campaign.

[SYSTEM] What is Essence20™?

Essence20™ is a d20 based system. The core mechanic for resolving a roll is for the player to roll a d20 along with their Skill die (ranging from a d2-d20). The result of the d20 and skill die must exceed the difficulty of the test in order to succeed. Characters with a specialization in the skill being tested get to roll their skill die and all dice below it, and pick the highest result to add to their d20 roll, increasing their odds of success! What’s more, a max value roll on ANY die is a critical success, leading to more chances for crits and more opportunities for great roleplaying incorporating them. [POST CAMPAIGN] Will there be late pledges?

There will NOT be late pledges for this campaign. Pre-orders will open on the Renegade webstore after the campaign ends. Be sure to back the campaign to gain access to the campaign exclusives and stretch goals!

[POST CAMPAIGN] Can I upgrade my pledge through the pledge manager after the campaign ends?

Yes!

[POST CAMPAIGN] How is shipping determined?

Shipping cost is dependent on your shipping address at the time of shipping and will be charged during our post-campaign pledge manager. Check the main campaign page for details.

[POST CAMPAIGN] Will retailer pledges be verified?

Yes! Only VERIFIED brick-and-mortar retailers can complete the pledge manager for the Retailer pledge level. Do not pledge at the retailer level if you are not a retailer with a physical store space. We will not ship games to you if you cannot verify your retailer status.

[POST CAMPAIGN] Taxes, VAT, and post-campaign shipping charges:

We have carefully structured this campaign to get the best pricing possible for all our backers while delivering as many upgraded components as possible. Taxes work slightly differently in different countries, so depending on where you live, you will encounter slightly different fees during the post-campaign survey.
 US Backers—We are required to charge sales tax in some states. Each state is a little different, so you will see the specific tax rate for your state when you check out during our post-campaign survey and pay for shipping. 
 EU and UK Backers - During the post-campaign survey, you will pay for shipping and applicable VAT. Our shipping charges are what we actually pay. These costs have risen recently due to changes in all of Europe involving Brexit. We are now shipping from two locations, one in the UK and one in mainland Europe. The costs you see reflect our actual cost to ship.
 Rest of the world—In the post-campaign survey, you will pay the actual shipping costs and will not be charged any other taxes or fees during checkout. We ship from many locations worldwide to keep costs as low as possible.
