BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

Will the book be 2024 5e compatible?

Yes! We will ensure our creatures are balanced for current, up-to-date 5e games. We may include this in the book itself or include a 2024 5e ammendum.

I can't find X creature, where is the stat block?

Fiendish Forge is being created thanks to the System Reference Document (SRD 5.1), which was made publically available by Wizards of the Coast. We will be sure to include when you need to reference this document in the book, as referenced below. The System Reference Document 5.1 is provided to you free of charge under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (“CC-BY-4.0”). You are free to use this content in any manner permitted by that license as long as you include the following attribution statement in your own work: This work includes material taken from the System Reference Document 5.1 (“SRD 5.1”) by Wizards of the Coast LLC and available at https://dnd.wizards.com/resources/systems-reference-document. The SRD 5.1 is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License available at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode.

Can I use a crafting or gathering system from a different book?

While we are unable to balance for every 3rd party book out there - we believe you can use materials and magic items within Fiendish Forge to easily homebrew compatibility with other crafting systems!

When is shipping collected?

Please see our section on "Shipping and Logistics" for more information. Generally, we will collect shipping 1-2 months before we are ready to ship.

When will Day 1 rewards be available?

The Day 1 Fiendish Friend Pin will be shipped out with the rest of your physical products to help save on shipping costs. The Day 1 Digital PDF will be available once we're at a finished (or near finished) state with the book. Our book goes through a lot of development and changes as we get feedback from our backers, so we want to ensure the Day 1 Digital PDF has the same quality.

Will I be able to playtest as a backer?

Yes! Every backer will get a "Fiendish Forge" backer role on our Io Publishing discord server! There we will be releasing creature packets for you to test and give your feedback on, as well as show exclusive previews of what we are developing for the book. The survey will ask for your Discord Handle and include a link if you wish to participate in our playtest. Please note: You must have gotten a Fiendish Forge Digital PDF or Hardcover book to participate in the playtest.
