BackerKit FAQ
How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ

What is a tabletop roleplaying game?
A ROLEPLAYING GAME (or RPG for short) is a game of the imagination, where you and some friends get together and create fictional characters, then play out their adventures around a tabletop or online. One player takes the role of GAMEMASTER (or GM) and describes the setting and the challenges your characters encounter. The Gamemaster plays the supporting characters and villains in the story and acts as a referee to adjudicate the rules of the game and make sure everything’s handled as fairly as possible. Your imagination is the only thing limiting the sorts of adventures you can have since you and your friends create the world, the characters, and the stories. It’s like writing your own Expanse stories but with your characters in the spotlight All the action takes place in your imagination, and the story can go on for as long as you want, with one exciting adventure after another. You can pick up and play the game whenever you want, and stop at any point, like reading the chapters of a graphic novel or saving and putting a video game on hold.
What dice do I need to play the Expanse RPG?
Good old six-sided dice (AKA d6s). When making tests for your character, you roll three dice and add them together, then add modifiers. You need two of the dice to be one color and the third a different color, or otherwise differentiated in some way. That third die is known as the Drama Die, and it’s important. The result of the Drama Die can determine your level of success and allow you to perform stunts (the most fun part of AGE system games).
What other Green Ronin RPGs use the AGE system?
Blue Rose, Cthulhu Awakens, Dragon Age, Fantasy AGE, Fifth Season, Modern AGE. If you've played any of these games, you already know the basics of The Expanse RPG. You can get free Quickstarts for most of them in a bundle on the Green Ronin Online Store. https://greenroninstore.com/products/green-ronin-quick-start-bundle
What is Green Ronin's AI Art Policy?
Green Ronin Publishing is firmly against the use of AI art in any of our products. Our standard artist contract contains a "no use of AI of any kind" clause, which all artists are expected to adhere to. If we were to determine a piece of art we commissioned used AI assets in its generation, we would cancel the contract and replace the art. It's that simple.
Will the new Transport Union Edition Quickstart be free?
Absolutely! Everyone will be able to download a copy of the brand new Quickstart before the end of the campaign. Backers who pledge in the first 48 hours will get it earlier than those who do not, but rest assured, *Everyone* will have access to it.
Q: Didn't the Transport Union Edition used to have a different cover?
A: It had an unfinished piece of art as a mock-up. After discussions with the artist, we decided to go our separate ways. We are in the process of commissioning new art for the cover.
Will STL files be available for the miniatures?
We know many folks would like to see STL files for our minis, but unfortunately that is not going to happen. Our license does not allow us to sell STLs for 3D printing.
