Summary

Did you grow up playing Fallout? In high school I didn't have any video game consoles, but my friends did! I was totally captivated by the post apocalyptic wasteland game, from the hit probabilities (VATS), to the caps, story, the mutants, and of course the game design (Pip boy, props, etc).

Once it rolled out on Steam I had finally got to dive in (mostly with Fallout 3). And now that Amazon has rolled out with their series, this is probably the best time for me to introduce this finish on titanium dice!

These dice are CNC machined from grade 5 titanium, then blasted, hand sanded, anodized, and stone washed in various orders to achieve a multi-tone aged variegated finish in the colors of Fallout. There are two finishes offered in this project.

The first is Titanium Vault Heirloom Dice. Think of these as dice rolled a few tens of thousands of times by generations of vault dwellers as the years passed. These have the natural titanium exposed on the edges framing the blue and yellow hues. This has a slightly reflective finish.

The second finish is Titanium Vault Slightly Irradiated Dice (not actually irradiated of course). These have a very subtle yellow finish sprinkled just behind the blue. Think of these as the vault door opened and the person carrying it exposed to radiation or acid rain. This has more of a matte/stone washed finish.

Timeline

Timeline
January - Experiment with blasting, stone washing, and anodizing titanium at various voltages.
April - Make prototype dice, dial in the finishes. Begin batch 1.
May - Launch project. Keep working on batch 1 and possibly a batch 2 to accelerate fulfillment.

Risks?
I've been making dice for years now. This is the fourth anodized dice project (more artisan titanium anodized projects have been completed). I'm very experienced with the manufacturing process and foresee no new challenges.
