BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

When is shipping charged?

Shipping will be charged during the pledge manager phase, after the fundraising campaign is completed.

How will international fulfillment be handled?

In general we will have international-friendly shipping. EU/UK shipments will originate from a UK-based shipping point. AUS/NZ/SEA shipments will originate from an AUS-based shipping point. CAN shipments will originate from a CAN-based shipping point.

Where are the stretch goals?

For stretch goals on the BackerKit platform, click the "Community" tab at top of the project, then look at the "Achievements" section.

Why are the dice now available in 2 separate sets?

We previously packaged our dice in a "complete dice chain" from d3 to d30. We've had many requests to break them into two sets, the "traditional polyhedrons" and the "DCC funky 7." Many DCC players want a lower price point to get "just the weird dice," and many 5E players love our patterns and would like a set of "just the 5E dice." So for this project, we are offering the dice in two separate packs, one "traditional" and one "DCC funky." You can get the full dice chain by purchasing both sets.

What dice are in each set?

For this campaign we are offering each dice design in two packages: a 9-die set of traditional polyhedrons (with 3d6), or a 7-die “DCC funky set”. The traditional set includes d4, 3d6, d8, d10, d%, d12 and d20. The "DCC funky set" includes d3, d5, d7, d14, d16, d24, and d30. If you'd like a complete dice chain, buy both sets!

Are these dice sets more expensive than in the past?

Of the four dice sets offered in this project, one of them is the same price as prior sets. The other three are more expensive, because all of these three include multiple special effects which raise the manufacturing the costs. These effects include translucent resin, mixed colors, infused foil flecks, and custom ink, as follows: * The Verdigris Grecian Vase dice set is made with a translucent dark green resin, infused with flecks of silver foil, with light green ink. * The Terracotta Grecian Vase dice set is made with a special translucent tan resin, infused with flecks of black foil, with gold ink. * The Thracian Azure Swirl dice set is made with special translucent resin, with a diffusion of color smoke in two tones, light blue and verdigris, with white ink.

What's in the art folio for crowdfunding backers?

Crowdfunding backers receive an exclusive art folio. There is so much amazing art in this project so we picked three of our favorite images to be printed as "just the art" on nice card stock. They're suitable for framing or the back of a judge's screen or whatever other purpose you'd like. Those three images are: the original Jaquays cover art to Caverns of Thracia; Sanjulian's interpretation of the Caverns of Thracia cover (which appears on the DCC edition); and Sanjulian's "Beneath the Isle of the Serpents" cover art. Print backers received this in print, and PDF backers receive it an electronic file.
