@Daniel Phipps I appreciate your responses, and the work of the warehouse staff. No one - absolutely not a single person - is or has questioned the work ethic of those packing and shipping boxes.
What we are confused about is the lack of non-evasive statements on what will be shipped and when. Additionally - why Dragonsteel doesn't seem to be *adequately* responding to the ever increasing demands of orders and shipping? This is a problem at the management, administration, and organizational level. Not the fault of any warehouse staff.
This is not a new problem. This has been ongoing since the Secret Project Kickstarter, and only seems to be getting worse. Brandon has repeatedly, publicly stated he didn't want to have another Kickstarter before the previous was fulfilled.
What was Light Day other than another enormous logistics challenge, akin to a Kickstarter? What was the Nexus sale other than another logistics issue? Dragonsteel is stacking unforced errors. After waiting a month since the last update, this one is absolutely not adequate.
People need clear, direct statements of what is going on, which Dragonsteel can be held accountable to. Fans who spent hundreds of dollars on trust need to know Dragonsteel is aware that Light Day and Nexus sales were adding fuel to the fire, and that this will not continue to occur.
We understand this was a more complex logistics challenge (though perhaps that should have been accounted for when the tiers were crafted?). What we don't understand is why, knowing that, Dragonsteel leadership is choosing to deliberately add to that burden before it is resolved.
@Hkap For sure, the vast majority of purchases people make are not critical for their lives, but I'm not seeing how that would justify poor communication or planning.
Yes, this may be a trivial purchase for you and I, but I don't presume that is the case for everyone. No doubt for some it was their single luxury they saved for and allowed themselves last year, or a gift for a loved one they assumed would arrive in time for the holidays.
One of the direct consequences is people being frustrated and asking for clarity. When a small business starts acting like a corporation, prioritizing sales numbers over customer satisfaction, fans start acting like customers.
At the end of the day, no one is going to be harmed by not receiving their books on time. Much as no one will be harmed by my making this comment. The trivialization swings easily both ways.
Look, I had even forgotten that I had backed this, since it is taking so long, but let us be real here. We will get what we ordered eventually (the books are written, we are not getting Pat-Rothfussed here) and they are not critical items for our lives. Let's just wait, big deal.
If Dragonsteel keeps organising big sales and stuff without finishing off their previous projects, they will soon drown in backlogs. So, rest assured, there are direct consequences to keeping up with that kind of folly.
Are we not keeping the secret novel title secret until it ships out like it was for the four secret novel kickstarter for those of us who wanted to be surprised by the title when we received the shipment?
@awarre "No doubt for some it was their single luxury they saved for and allowed themselves last year"
I belong in that category but, again, let's not be hyperbolic here. If we were talking about the possibity of getting scammed I'd have a different opinion, but if we are just talking about delays and unclear schedules, then it is in the category of "it happens" as far as I am concerned and that's my outlook as a customer, not a fan.
"Much as no one will be harmed by my making this comment."
No argument on that.
