BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

Are the Cups Dishwasher and Microwave Safe?

Microwaving is NOT recommended under any circumstance. As for dishwashers, short and low heat wash programmes are acceptable to use. They are waterproof and heatproof to a degree, but long periods of soaking can still damage the design. This is why you will get the longest lasting design when you hand wash. So the recommendation is: hand-wash!

I am interested in the DIY Transfers. How do I apply them to my own dish?

The transfer stickers come sandwiched between two liners to protect it. You apply it by removing the back liner first, rubbing it thoroughly against the surface and then peeling the top liner. Instructions: Rub your surface clean with a microfiber closs and glass cleaner. Avoid alcohol based detergents for this step. Peel off the edge of the transfer sticker and trim the backing foil with scissors by 1-2cm (1/2"-1") so that only a small part of the adhesive is exposed. Carefully place the sticker on the surface of your choice, but avoid applying the adhesive until you are happy with the placement. Once the sticker is in place, you can carefully push down the exposed part of the adhesive. Make sure it goes without wrinkles and press firmly. Then slowly flip over the non-sticky part and peel slowly back the liner even further, apply the exposed parts as you go until the design is fully applied. Once you are done, press the whole design firmly with your hands or a squeegee, pay extra attention to small parts such as sparkles. It's better to press too strong than too little! Once that is done, you can peel off the top liner slowly. If you notice that the design is still lifting, press it back in place and try again. ONCE YOUR DESIGN IS APPLIED, LET IT CURE FOR AT LEAST TWO DAYS! Even better if you can let it cure for a full week before washing it! This is extremely important to ensure that the adhesive is strong enough to give you a long lasting final product!

Why do you not ship to my country?

There are unfortunately countries that require immense bureaucratic effort to be allowed to ship parcels, either because you need a separate business registration or a packaging license to ship there which I do not have for those countries. For UK, I can only ship orders that were made through Etsy - the glass cups will be available on there too in the future, and if you are interested in them, drop me a message while the campaign/pre-order is on and I can give them to you for the campaign price once they're up on Etsy!

How much is shipping for my country?

Shipping cost is Germany: - 4€ Flat items only (transfers, stickers, postcards) - 6€ (any amount of glasses) EU: - 5€ Flat Items only (transfers, stickers, postcards) - 13€ for up to 8 cups, 18€ up to 5kg USA / Rest of the world: - 6€ for flat items (transfers, stickers, postcards) - 10€ for one cup, +5€ for each additional one, but no more than 25€ (up to 5kg)

What happens if my order is damaged?

Contact me immediately, and take many pictures of the damage as well as the packaging (if possible, take pictures of the parcel before you opened it, if it looks suspicious). I will send you replacement. *Please open your parcel asap because insurance is only valid shortly after arrival*

How do I track my order?

Most likely I will ship all orders via DHL/Deutsche Post (tracking number starts with "LF"), and you can track on their website. To US customers I might use USPS Smartmail instead (tracking number is a long string of numbers).

My tracking number is not showing any activity

It's normal that your tracking takes 2-5 days before showing any activities, or between different scans. However if you notice that it gets stuck in a status for longer than a week, please contact me asap! The insurance may expire if it's stuck on the same date for over a month.
