Introduction

Gold Dust Publishing is a new indie publishing company for LGBTQIA+ authors & allied stories. Its mission is to provide an avenue and safe place for LGBTQIA+ authors to share their artistic talents through fiction or non-fiction writings with the world. Our non-fiction side works to help preserve our LGBTQIA+ history in a world where books are constantly being banned. Our fiction side of the company provides entertaining tales for all ages featuring LGBTQIA+ characters or written by LGBTQIA+ authors.

Since opening in January of 2023, Gold Dust has brought you the audiobook for The House on Dead Man’s Curve & The Vampire Crusades series by owner and paranormal enthusiast Jason Roach, Until Death: An Eric Kent Investigation by Rey Nichols, The Purple Menace and the Tobacco Prince by Wade Beauchamp, The Sword’s Secret – Ancient Wonders – Book 1, and a charity book titled Reflections featuring over forty different authors from around the world writing letters to their past selves.

Gold Dust Publishing is now entering its third year, with more than double the number of books we put out in 2024 being released in 2025. We have some fantastic titles coming your way, including a cozy mystery thriller, an Appalachian cosmic horror, a paranormal investigative mystery, a new charity book for The Trevor Project, a sapphic fantasy adventure, a psychological horror, some scary ghost stories, and book 1 of a new epic fantasy quest.

Mr. Tingles' Mysteries: The Curious Case of the Bodiless Head from author Sean Dale Roach

In this campy, cozy, and, at times, thriller mystery, a small-town detective and his partners find a decapitated head in an unexpected place. The discovery sparks an investigation requiring the help of none other than the well-seasoned, flamboyant professional – Mr. Tingles. As the detectives follow the clues, they’re confronted with similarities to a thirty-five-year-old unsolved murder case and one barrier after another.

The team remains resilient – chasing suspects and dodging bullets – as the leads fall into place, bringing them closer to carrying out justice. Will Mr. Tingles’ experience and wit, partnered with the detective's strong sense of logic and determination, guide the team to an ultimate victory?

Mr. Tingles' Mysteries is shooting for an end-of-March release.

Children of Solitude from author Michael G. Williams

This Appalachian cosmic horror novel tells the story of a gay man who must return to his ancestral home in the mountains of Western North Carolina after his mother’s death to clean it out and sell it off. Navigating feelings of grief and anger, he finds her house is haunted and her nosy neighbors always watching him—and one of those neighbors happens to be his favorite adult performer. While he develops a new romance and oversees his mother’s funeral, tension builds as the characters’ circumstances go from ominously creepy to terrifying.

This LGBTQ Southern horror story is set in a place exactly like the author’s mountain hometown in the Southeastern United States with shades of Lovecraft. Packed with regional folklore, original bluegrass compositions, and occult horror, it weaves an unforgettable ghost story featuring seduction, cults, murder, sacrifice, and paranormal phenomena.

Children of Solitude is shooting for a mid-April release date.

How It Works!

To become a backer, select a pledge level which features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution. The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands. Gold Dust has set their funding goal lower to ensure funding and get these items to you.  Our true goal is much more.

You can only make one pledge per transaction but can add on as many of the add-ons as you would like. If your pledge or add-on has multiple items to choose from, you will receive a pledge manager survey at the end of the campaign to select the items you wish.

PAY OVER TIME IS AVAILABLE!

For this campaign, we will be trying out Backerkit's Pay Over Time beta feature! If your pledge + add-ons is over $150, after you select a pledge, grab your add-ons, and go to Checkout, you'll be given the option to pay 4 equal interest-free monthly installments of your pledge total over the course of 4 months.

If you select Pay Over Time, you acknowledge that:

  • You understand that your rewards will not qualify for shipment until you have paid in full.
  • You understand that any partial payments made are not eligible for a refund.
  • You understand that you will not be able to access the pledge manager survey until after you have paid in full.

Please note, this means that Pay Over Time pledges will not be able to answer the pledge manager survey until their payment plan is completed and thus FunkoPop designs might vary based on the availability of inventory.

REMINDER: SHIPPING WILL BE CHARGED AFTER THE PRODUCTION IS COMPLETED!!! PLEASE NOTE THIS.

Shipping

Unlike many crowdfunding platforms, BackerKit is a buy now, pay later system. BackerKit is unique in that shipping is charged after the project is completed, and separately from your pledged amount - when the items ship. Since shipping rates can fluctuate, shipping will be determined at the time of fulfillment based on the total weight of your package and the destination country. I will do my best to ensure fair rates and combined items where possible. However, international rates will likely be high.

Please note the above numbers are estimates. Shipping will be added when you fill out your survey form and is based on your location. Generally, US shipping for one book will be about $7, three books will be about $9, and five books will be around $11. Again, these are estimates. See below for international shipping.

International Shipping:

Yep. It's expensive. The cost starts around $30 for one book, shipping to Canada, and $50 international. The price will go up for extra books by weight. For example, another 2 books will add around $5-10 in shipping. This is the cheapest I've been able to find it for, especially if you are getting multiple books. I'd recommend getting the eBooks, and then you can get as many as you want!

Edit

Timeline

Each book has a potential release date under it. As you fill out your surveys at the end, you will have the option to have each book shipped to you at its release or have them all shipped at once after they have all been released. Additional items will be ordered after the project has been completed, and along with the back catalog will either ship with the first book or as they become available. I will try to combine as many of the items as possible to keep the shipping charges to a minimum. Should any changes in items or delays in the publication come about, notifications will be made. If you wish to receive all the books at once, we are looking at a late fall date with our final release for the year.
