My name is Kathleen, and I am a LONG-time reader of Valdemar. When I was 16, I stayed up all night reading the Last Herald Mage. It was the first time I had pulled an all-nighter reading, but far from the last. Since then, I have collected, and read, all the Valdemar books, and the Serrated edge books, and all the Elemental Mage books.
The Valdemar books got me through my first experience in college, and my first disappointment when I hurt my shoulder and had to leave nursing school in 1995 because I lost my scholarship. I read them when I met and married my husband. I continued to read and collect them while I rehabbed my shoulder and returned to nursing school. All these years later, I still read them in the PhD in nursing research program I am in the last year of.
Hence the self-selected Healer designation.
