BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

When will Tabula Vox be available?

All Backerkit backers will gain Early Access in March 2024! Tabula Vox will launch for public use in May 2024.

Is Tabula Vox meant for in person or online game sessions?

Both! Vox allows you to easily stream background music for your RPG sessions. Whether you're streaming to a room of adventures or broadcasting to an online party, you can give players the powerful benefits of mood-setting music.

How much does it cost?

After making an account, Vox will have three free tracks to get your feet wet and experience the possibilities of dynamic real-time streaming. You can purchase a subscription for $4.90 a month for unlimited use of our growing premium library. Additionally, Vox will launch with a marketplace for composers to add and sell their works to other users. Items in the marketplace will cost roughly $5.99. You can stream your audio to 9 other listeners by sharing a link. If you want to connect with more users or in a public venue, please contact us for rates.

Where can I stream music with Vox?

DnD and other TTRPG campaigns, LARP sessions, board game parties, just chilling, or any other gathering of people of 10 or less. If you'd like to use Tabula Vox for a business like an escape room, convention, public streams, or any other mass population, please contact us.

Are there limits on how much music I can listen to?

Nope! Stream as long as you'd like. Vox has a limit of 10 simultaneous broadcasts per session. If you would like to sync with more than 10 users, please contact us.

What is the difference between a theme and a mood in Tabula Vox?

A theme can be thought of as the setting of your campaign. You can be exploring a deep mine, a mystical forest, or a mysterious town. While many events and emotions can occur, your environment will contain common ideas and sensory information. A mood can be seen as the different emotional states or events that happen within your environment. The exploration phase, the battle sequence, and a victory speech are all examples of different moods that can take place within the same environment. Each theme within Tabula Vox contains a set of moods that the Gamemaster may cycle through.

What does transitioning mean in Tabula Vox and how long does it take?

In Tabula Vox, our transitions mean you are able to seamlessly move between moods and themes. Unlike a playlist or soundboard, Vox eliminates the ads, pauses, and buffers that can come from switching between soundscapes. In a campaign, you may be walking through a cave, mourning your lost friend, and suddenly an evil dwarf comes swinging at you! As quickly as your GM springs the fiend at you, they can change the mood of your music — but instead of a distracting change, you'll experience a smooth musical transition that pulls you into the new vibe.

Are there sound effects in Tabula Vox?

Tabula Vox focuses on conveying the mood of a campaign. Instead of fiddling with complex soundboards, we get out of the Gamemaster's way and only provide a changing soundscape that matches the flow of the story as it unfolds. That means no sound effects in Vox — just beautiful background music that enhances the atmosphere of your session. But feel free to get creative and make all the onomatopoeias you want!

Does it just keep playing the same track?

Vox will continuously play the same Theme until you change it, but each theme contains a set of dynamic tracks that overlap and cycle through several phrases within the same mood. While it is constantly repeating these phrases, the order and frequency changes. This variety combined with the professional compositions prevent sound fatigue as you spend hours working through a campaign session.

Can I pause the music at any time for dramatic effect?

Not at the moment, but let us know if you'd like to see this in an upcoming release! You can stop your music at any time, and it will finish the end of the current musical phrase before stopping completely. You can restart the same or a new theme at any time.

Who made the music?

We have partnered with professional composers to create dynamic music specifically for Vox. See their names and works in the app! If you are a composer and interested in creating music for Vox, we'd love to hear from you.

Will there be a marketplace for other composers?

Absolutely! It will be part of the public launch in May 2024. With the marketplace, you can browse new themes for purchase and use in Tabula Vox. If you are a composer and interested in creating music for Vox, we'd love to hear from you.

Can you download tracks?

Nope. The magic of Vox is the ability to loop and mix in real-time, so you can be constantly immersed within a theme or mood. Our tracks are composed for this specific purpose and won't translate to just listening outside of Vox.

Can I upload my own music?

Nope. The magic of Vox is the ability to loop and mix in real-time, so you can be constantly immersed within a theme or mood. Our tracks are composed for this specific purpose, so any-ole-song just won't do.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes! Vox is a web app, so everything can be done with a browser. As long as a device has a browser with internet access, Vox will work on it.

What are the hardware requirements?

Any device with a browser, speaker, and internet access will work with Vox!

Does it really sync for multiple users at once?

Absolutely! One session can be synced to up to 10 users. If someone in your party arrives late, their audio will time-sync in as soon as everything loads! This ensures that all listeners are hearing the exact same thing at the same time, regardless of where they are or when they join the session.

Can I submit an idea for a future theme or feature for Vox?

Heck yeah! Send us an email at [email protected] or pop into our Discord at https://discord.gg/kQGjXZxMDG and we will consider your idea for the future.

Is Tabula Vox natively integrated into any Virtual Tabletops?

If funded, Tabula Vox will be natively integrated in to Tabula Sono. If you'd like to talk about integrations or cooperative projects with Tabula Gaming, please contact us.

Is there a Discord Bot for Tabula Vox?

No, but let us know if this is something you'd like to see in a future release! The nature of the Vox app means your players can just open it and leave it running in the background, so that generally fits the needs of FredBoat users and the like.
