PROMETHEUS is Snakeskin Press' debut. This queer futuristic horror anthology features the work of 16 authors and is steeped in queerness, with diverse rep, all the subgenres of horror you can think of, and writing that will chill you to the bone.
PROMETHEUS: A QUEER FUTURISTIC HORROR ANTHOLOGY is the debut publication of Snakeskin Press, the brainchild of two queer indie nonbinary long-distance best friends who met online in 2024 and have never looked back since.
PROMETHEUS is the product of a shared dream—a wish that the co-founders, Jake and Jess, have shared for a very long time: to uplift indie voices, to make space for emerging writers while giving new platforms to more established names, and to imbue every publication with diverse queer representation.
The lineup of 16 stories includes a range of themes, from biomechanical to cosmic and eldritch to post-democratic dystopian horror. Every story comes with its own unique tone and flavour, some ending in tragedy, some with hope, and some with a bittersweet openness that will stay with you long after you’re done reading.
What’s certain is that you’ll meet unforgettable characters from all walks of life, morally complex surgeons, hackers deep in the web, ship captains, space explorers, factory workers…everyone has a story to tell.
With a strong presence of own voices, the stories are also rich in wide representation, with several trans, nonbinary, and gender-diverse characters and romances exploring achillean, sapphic and aspec dynamics.
PROMETHEUS is the start of what Snakeskin Press hopes to be a publishing portfolio that brings to readers the diverse queer representation they thirst for while exploring specific themes and topics that will bewitch and take hold of hearts and minds alike.

As an indie-run press, Snakeskin depends on crowdfunding contributions to be able to produce the highest quality product that will do the authors and stories justice and represent them in the best way possible.
While Snakeskin has in-house editing, formatting, and design services, there are several costs that are difficult for the co-founders to shoulder as indie authors themselves.
Funds gathered from the Backerkit would go towards fulfilling author compensation, printing and producing associated merchandise, acquiring necessary stock, and other unexpected administrative costs that might crop up.
Any profits made from the crowdfunding campaign would go towards setting up the next publication.
Both co-founders are at present providing their services and time on a voluntary basis. The wish is for Snakeskin Press to find its place with readers, to become a safe haven for authors, and to be the home of queer stories. In order for this dream to succeed, Snakeskin Press and PROMETHEUS depend on a successful campaign.

Preston’s Blessing is our mascot’s choice for a reward. Pres is always looking for new writers to uplift, so this one comes with a paperback copy of PROMETHEUS, which can be upgraded to hardover via an add-on option, a full merchandise set: full colour prints of all the illustrations, a full sticker pack, a PROMETHEUS bookmark, and an enamel pin, and an author services package: formatting and cover design services from our formatter and designer and editing services from our editor. The preset word count for editing (45K) can also be upgraded using an add-on at a beneficial rate. The physical rewards will be delivered within 1 month of release day: 31 October 2026. Prometheus Painted is for supporters who love collecting art prints. It’s a more basic version of All the Goodies and comes with just the prints.This reward will be delivered within 1 month of release day: 31 October 2026.
At Snakeskin, we are all about the voices we represent, so Jess and Jake’s stretch goal wish is to be able to offer more financial compensation for our authors. If we exceed our goal by €500 we will double the financial compensation we’re giving our authors.
And then there’s Preston, the Snakeskin Mascot, who is a firm believer in the power of being extra, and so in their name, we’re presenting an extra-special stretch goal for our readers.
If we exceed our goal by €1000, we will upgrade every hardcover pledge to an extra special special edition, which will come with the same specifications as the original hardcover - holographic foil jacket and printed end papers - but with the extra addition of sprayed edges and full-color interior illustrations, rather than black and white.
If we exceed our goal by €2000, we will have a very special project coming for our German speaking audience: A full German translation of the anthology (eBook & paperback)! Why German? One of our founders is German, plus we have several German-speaking contributors in our line-up–it only makes sense to choose this specific language.

During this event, authors/indie presses run their own crowdfunding campaigns, with hopes of funding their publishing project. All campaigns run at the same time, and each campaign cross-promotes one another. Each campaign runs on an all-or-nothing basis, which means if they don’t meet their minimum goal, they can’t create their projects. 🙁 That’s why we’re hoping to count on you, the lovely reader, to help uplift these publishers and really make this Bazaar something special!
