Project Update: "Fantasy Makes Me Fierce"

Every story has a beginning and this one is no different. When I set out to craft a series around the question of "What if Morgan le Fey was the rightful heir to Camelot", I knew that one of the hallmarks of Arthurian lore--Excalibur--would be front and center to the narrative.

You might say that Excalibur is there right from the start, even if Morgan isn't entirely aware of it. Her magic is weak in this world and she doesn't consider herself much of a witch. Until she crosses the barrier into the realm of Camelot and her power returns tenfold. Proving herself both a worthy witch and the rightful heir to the throne leads her right into the heart of the kingdom and the famed magical blade. It is said that it will only obey a true Pendragon. Passed down for centuries from parent to child, it knows its true master by the magic in their blood. For every pendragon had shed blood on the blade. If Morgan stands a chance of reclaiming what's hers, she'll have to prove herself to the people and to Excalibur itself. When united with it's proper owner, the sword can lend extraordinary power and focus. In a sense, it makes the wielder fierce.

When I was deciding on what quote to pair with Excalibur, this one just stood out to me. When I read fantasy tales, i find myself emboldened by the magic within the pages and the antics of the heroes and heroines I'm reading about. It gives me a sense that I can be brave, too with fantasy and magic on my side. And thus, when we crossed the 100% funded threshold this pin became available to all backers who resonate with the message.

As a reminder, you'll have a chance to pick your pins at the survey stage. Until next time, adventure on magic seekers!
