BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

Is This A Real Game?

Yes. Yes it is. It's pretty obvious I designed the game with my tongue stuck firmly in my cheek, but it's designed to be fun and interesting even after yu;ve seen all of Stan!'s amazing art and read the snarky card text.

When Will the Game Be Ready?

We expect all the art and graphic design to be done by July 2025. PDFs should go out to everyone that month. Obviously getting print proof back takes time, so POD links and physical decks will take a month or two longer. Our plan is t have all rewards fulfilled by the end of September 2025.

Why aren't you shipping print decks to the Rest of the World?

Shipping outside the continental USA is... fraught. We've seen a LOT of crowdfunding campaigns crash and burn because the cost of shipping skyrockets between funding and delivery. For shipping items within the USA, it's a risk we can estimate and plan for. But shipping through international borders is just more than we are comfortable trying, and we don't want to have that wreck our budget. So everyone who pledges at the digital level will ALSO receive a link to get your own POD copies at just the actual cost to print and ship it. That way your money isn't tied up waiting for us to figure out affordable international shipping charges once the game is ready to ship. You can stick with printing your own cards (sliding them into card protectors will let you play with them that way, or you can print on cardstock), or get a deck printed and shipped to you from DriveThru when you know the exact cost. People pledging at the Physical Trump level will have physical decks shipped to them at no further cost, but we are restricting that to backers in the continental US.

How Much Will POD Printing and Shipping Cost?

We can only estimate that cost. Our expectation is that each deck will cost roughly $15 US to print. Shipping cost will depend on where you are, but you can look at DriveThru's estimates at their site: https://help.drivethrurpg.com/hc/en-us/articles/12723268748055-Estimated-Shipping-Costs#h_01HQKAM6PV2QJYTGJZWXB7M2B7
