The Time We Have is a game about what it means to be a brother—about all the complexity, vulnerability, and joy that comes with it. This is a storytelling card game played on opposite sides of a closed door and a conversation about saying goodbye.

This two-player zombie TTRPG will guide you through the tragic and intimate story of two brothers and the final days before one of you turns. You will take turns drawing cards, asking questions, and processing this change together.

Once the door is closed, your story begins. In the end, it is up to the surviving brother:

Whether you are new to roleplaying games or have a shelf overflowing with them, The Time We Have provides all the tools you need to tell a compelling story in about 90 minutes. All you need to play is the game deck and a door.

Grab the Print & Play Demo for a closer look!

There are three kinds of cards you will encounter during play:

KNOCK for Safety

The Time We Have is a tragic game with heavy themes. So it features an original safety mechanic (inspired by the X-card by John Stavropoulos and Script Change by Thoughty). Players can adjust, pause, and stop play by knocking once, twice, or three times respectively.

Play in Any Zombie Apocalypse

With one of 10 "Door" cards, you will define the particularities of the zombie apocalypse around you. Or define your own throughout play!

Each Door card has a piece of micro-fiction on the front that will inform the setting, time period, and nature of that card's zombie infection and a corresponding illustration on the back.

To provide a suite of options for you, we have hired some of the best minds in TTRPG design along with a team of incredible visual artists.

More info on all of these incredible creators below!

Will you open the door?

Every game of The Time We Have will end with the same question...

Your pledge does not include shipping. Shipping will be charged at time of fulfillment, AFTER the campaign, via BackerKit's pledge manager. The following are estimates based on current shipping rates and weight estimate of the final game.

ESTIMATES (for 1 game box)
US...................$10
Canada............$20
EU/UK..............$25
Rest of World...$30

We will do everything in our power to keep shipping as reasonable as we can for all backers. We are actively seeking shipping/distribution partners in other countries to keep rates lower than these estimates.

Fulfillment is scheduled to complete by Fall of 2025. We are hoping to start sending orders by Summer of 2025.

This is our 3rd crowdfunding campaign and we are excited to deliver you the best version of this game possible. We will communicate any delays as they emerge in a timely and transparent manner.
