Project Update: Overdue Update - Rollo Thermal Printer and Learning Curve
Hi All,
I want you to know that I'm plugging away. And yes, I am way behind schedule.
Until now, I've been entering all the addresses by hand at the post office at a kiosk machine. Or I would go first thing in the morning and get the teller to do five packages, and if there was a line, go to the back of the line after ten packages. It was time-consuming. So I researched and listened to what others in the BackerKit community had to say on the subject. I decided on the Rollo printer since it has a Bluetooth feature, and it looked like it could print labels seamlessly, which is what I wanted. So I bought one.

Then I discovered that the 500 labels I thought would be shipped with it were not. So, I had to order labels.

An order came in from Etsy, and that was my first text for the printer. Well, it did not go smoothly. The label I bought from them was formatted at 8.5x11, not the printer's 4x6 format. I spent a day figuring it out. I bumped back and forth between two computers, trying various software to get it to function.
Apparently, Rollo works seamlessly if you subscribe to their mailing service. But I've already committed to the BackerKit solution, and now I'm working through that obstacle course. I've established a payment link, the size of the envelopes, and the weights for each item. Just as I think I'm ready for the next step, I find that I missed a step. Right now, I'm entering all the box sizes for the different overseas sales. Even though I didn't make any overseas sales, the system wants me to have this information. So, I'm doing that. I'm now hoping that the labels I get from BackerKit will be formatted at 4x6, and allow for me to just print the whole lot of you in batches.
Again, your patience is greatly appreciated. Had I known this learning curve was going to be so steep, I would have just stood in line at the post office.
Thank you to all those who reached out with condolences about my cousin. Your words were a comfort.
Yours,
Mark
