How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

Q: What if there is an issue or cancellation with the OGL (commercial license) that allows us to create commercial products?

A: Easy! Pretty much everyone that has played or DM’ed or GM’ed the world’s greatest game, whether it is 1e, 2e, 3e, 4e, or 5e, can easily discern that it is very easy to EDIT the content so that this spell book would be 100% SYSTEM AGNOSTIC, or SYSTEM NEUTRAL - whatever term you prefer. Please note, that if this happens, some rework will be needed to faithfully complete the products in this case, but it will be EASY.

Q: Can these products be used for fantasy RPG systems other than 5e?

A: Heck yeah! You can EASILY modify the content within to use it for 1e, 2e, 3e, 4e, or virtually ANY fantasy TTRPG. Please note that their are TWO SEPARATE COMMERCIAL LICENSE ADD-ONS you would need to buy if you choose to publish your own content for money using any of these spells or sigils.

Q: What if this project is not completed?!!!?

A: You have our permission to cast your own spells on us in that case! Just kidding! Please do not worry about that. There is more than one capable being working on this product, and IT SHALL BE DONE!

Q: Why do we have to wait to get ahold of such an incredible book of spells???

A: We will try to the best of our ability to get this completed WAY AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.We have, however, learned that there are SO may weird factors that pop up inexplicably. We are quite prepared for all of them, unless we are turned into newts!

Q: WHO IS THE SPELL BOOK FOR?

A: No nonsense, EVERYONE! Men, women, elves, gnomes, any race, color, creed, preference. One item of note. WE do not consider this to be adult only content at all, however, we realize that there are all levels of sensibilities to be considered. We will say that the book would be rated for ages 18 and up, but anyone that realizes that this is a work of fiction should not have any problem with this set. There ARE some very nasty characters, but that is par for the course in adult fiction.

Q: WHO IS THIS SPELL BOOK NOT FOR?

A: We are not at all here to dispute your knowledge of real or “real” magic. We are using CREATIVE LICENSE, matched with great respect, to deliver a work of FICTION. There not not be any debates or arguments of real or “real” magic, as this is a work of fiction. : ) No politics or political issues, please. We are creators and are trying to publish books without inevitable distractions. We will leave running for office for the real politicians! ; )

Q: Can us backers offer suggestions?

A: OF COURSE! But please keep it constructive? Also, if you are nice wizardlings, and you help spread them word AND offer suggestions, you can have your name in the book (Optional) as a SPELL CONSULTANT!

What inspired us to create this grimoire of spells for the 5e fantasy roleplaying game?

Several years ago, I came across some authentic Icelandic spell pages while researching a project of an entirely different nature. The staves were gorgeous to me. I look at it like an art form in and of itself. These visually stunning spell books were an instant addiction, and I soon began researching spell books of MANY DIFFERENT VARIETIES ranging from deep south hoodoo to Angelic magick. Having an artistic background, I thought I could make the coolest-looking spell book to be USED BY PLAYERS AND DMs ALIKE. Built around the popular 5e fantasy roleplaying game system, this book of spells can also be used in your 1e, 2e, 3e, 4e, or VIRTUALLY ANY FANTASY RPG with only very slight modifications.

WHY BACK THIS PROJECT?

Q&A - WHY BACK THE MAGNARON? 1 - This book of spells is for BOTH PLAYERS AND DMs, GMs, admins, referees, etc. 2 - You can have TWO (or more) hardcover print books. One for DM use and one for the use by the players. 3 - This book of spells functions not only as an in-world prop but a keepsake the players can use (and keep!) as a very powerful weapon against the forces of darkness. 4 - This book of spells can very easily be adapted to virtually any fantasy RPG system, with very little additional work. 5 - If this book of spells is successful, there are plans well on their way for us to CREATE 8 MORE SPELL BOOKS! Each book will focus on these eight spell schools.
