BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

What's "Pintober"? What's this stuff about a free pin?

Pintober is a collaborative project between a varied cast of pin artists. All artists in the project are providing free mini pins to backers who back 3 or more projects in the collab! It's just like trick or treating: knock on the doors of the other projects to see all the wonderfully spooky and/or sweet pins and back 3 (or more!) projects to qualify for 3 (or more!) free treat pins, one from each artist. Plus, you might discover your new favorite pin artist!

I'm moving soon! What should I do about my address?

You will be able to change your address up until February 2025, so no need to worry! If you end up moving after addresses lock, you can always message me to change the address on my end.

When will fulfillment happen?

Fulfillment is expected to happen around March-April of 2025. If any delays in the schedule occur, I will inform all backers immediately, as well as providing regular updates on the status of the project!

Who are the two ladies on the banners?

The hosts of Haunted Dream House are Elizabeth (orange) and Alma (purple). While their choice of business goth attire may be somewhat unconventional in the realty industry, they are both qualified to serve as real estate agents. Also as ghost wranglers, but that kind of comes with the territory of dealing in haunted houses. Elizabeth can see ghosts and Alma can talk to them, so you won't need any EMF detectors or ghost cameras to confirm hauntings at any houses you check out.

How big is the free pin?

The free cookie pin is about 1 inch or 25 mm across.

Can I just buy the freebie pin?

Nope! The only way to get it, for now, will be through the collaboration. I can't guarantee that there will be stock left over after fulfillment for regular sales, but you can check my shop after fulfillment is over to see if you're in luck. To guarantee getting the pin, participating in the collaboration is pretty much the only way.

Are the houses on the pins real houses?

Nope! While I took inspiration from a variety of real houses in specific architectural styles, none of the pins depict a real house that exists somewhere. Which is probably good, because they're all kind of run down...

Will there be a mortgage?

Nope! All the houses for sale through Haunted Dream House are cash-only, sold as-is. They probably wouldn't qualify for a loan anyway, what with all the damage and... the ghosts.
