How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
How do I get the referral reward (Life Size CaC apron)?
All backer surveys will have a "Who Referred You?" section that will let you type in the name of the person who referred you to the project! As long as that person matches the name of someone who also pledged, you'll receive this reward! You will be reached out to in regards to the apron color if more than just blue is unlocked via the stretch goals. You will also receive this reward if you previously backed one of my campaigns as thanks for the support! I'll be keeping track via the previous backers list.
How long have you been making Create-A-Companion?

Do I have to keep the name you gave the character?
Absolutely not! During the survey, you'll be asked what the name of your plushie is, and that will be put onto the Scroll of Greater Heart Connection! These names are just the names of them through the stories I tell, however once they're yours, their names are for you to decide, with new stories to tell! All I ask is you treat these plushies with love and care.
Will you sell these anywhere physically?
I'm working with different local partners to potentially have them in shops. For now, they'll be available here and at conventions! More on some of the other parts soon(ish).
Are the Plushies Child Safe?
I've worked with my manu as closely as I can to ensure these are child safe, running them through the safety tests required for selling in the US. However I have an obligation to ensure that concerns are met for any parents who may be interested in getting these for their children. For your consideration, see the following list of items: - Hands have Sewn In Magnets which pose no choking hazard or immediate harm. Take normal precautions around magnets if your child has any sort of sensitivities. - Companion Apron has 2 straps to tie around the back of the plushie. Each strap is approximately 10.5" long. I also have considered an elastic band, which would have a circumference of 11". Apron is not recommended for children under 4.
Refund and Exchange Policy
Unfortunately, once the BackerKit has processed your payment method, I will be placing things into production based on the funds raised. As soon as that happens, I cannot process any refunds. If you receive a defective/damaged pin or plushie, or have any issues with what you receive I am happy to exchange your order with another of what you received! I'll just need pictures showing the problems you're experiencing and I'll hop right to getting it corrected. All I need is for you to pay return shipping from you to me, and I'll cover shipping from me to you.
I live outside the U.S. and in the UK! Will you be shipping to my country? (VAT Question)
Your shipping cost goes towards paying the VAT and other shipping fees. I will be shipping backed projects to the UK!
I live outside the U.S. and NOT in the UK! Will you be shipping to my country? (Pre-VAT Question)
Absolutely! If you have any sort of VAT or import tax, most times I can use your shipping fee to cover that plus the general cost to ship. However, there may be additional fees and declarations I'm not aware of, or some VAT weirdness that doesn't get caught, and are up to the recipient to sort upon reaching your postal system.
When will I be charged?
BackerKit is awesome because you can pledge now and pay later! You only need to pay once the campaign has ended which you'll get a reminder for via email.
