Project Update: Shipping Lockdown, Updates, and New Poll
Hey all,
Just a couple updates as we begin the shipping process.
Current State of Items
Right now I have about 95 percent of the pins in my possession. I am waiting on the Fantasy Reader pins from the manufacturer, as well as two other designs from another manufacturer that are being remade because I was not happy with the first attempt. I have all the stickers and bookmarks in my possession and will soon start the process of assembling the freebie items. I am waiting on the book boards and they should be done soon, as well as the tote bags.
New Poll - Backing Cards
I've posted a new poll along with this update. I'd like to know how backers feel about backing cards. Do you care if your pin comes on a backing card or not? Are you bothered if you receive a pin in it's original factory bag? The reason I'm asking this is because I am considering moving away from backing cards. I admit that backing cards look nice, and I will most likely continue to use them in certain situations, however, they slow down the shipping process when it comes to crowdfunded campaigns. It takes time to grab each pin in your order, remove it from it's original factory bag, remove the backs, and adhere it to a backing card or postcard. The whole shipping process would be much faster if I could grab and go, removing the time it takes to do the aforementioned process. I understand that on rare occasions, if you are gifting a pin, it's nice when it comes on a backing card. For future campaigns I may make an option to purchase backing cards for your pins. By purchase, I mean it would probably be an optional 50 cent to $1 up charge to have backing cards for all your pins.
This poll will determine if I use backing cards or not for this campaign.
Pros
Backing cards look nice
It creates a cohesive and pleasant packaging aesthetic
Cons
Backing cards slow down the packing and shipping process
Backing cards are usually thrown away
They contribute to more paper waste
All company information is included on order postcards, so it's not necessary for that information to also be on a backing card.
Banned Books Pin
There was a miscommunication which resulted in one part of the Banned Books pins being made wrong. The heart at the top of the dagger was supposed to be cut out, but instead it was filled with white. I received the pins and after looking them over decided to not have them remade, so they will ship like this if you ordered this design. Both color variants already have white in them, so I don't feel like the white in the heart looks out of place. It's also very, very expensive to have 400+ pins remade with a new mold. When seeing the pins in person, based off the size, I know that the cutout space would be so minuscule it would appear as mostly metal and not have the original desired effect. If you ordered this design, and it bothers you that it's not cut out, please email [email protected] to choose a new design and we will amend your order. If you don't reach out I'll assume you're okay with the way it looks and this design will ship with your order.

Lockdown for Shipping
I will be locking the orders down for shipping as soon as I post this update. Once your order is locked for shipping, you won't be able to update your shipping address. If you need to update your shipping address please email [email protected] with the full name and email associated with your pledge, along with the updated shipping address. We can amend your shipping address from our end. If you fail to notify us of an address change and your order is returned to us, we will ship it out again but you'll need to pay a second shipping fee.
Shipping Process
At the end of this week I plan to start setting up my shipping station. I'm still waiting on a few packing materials at this time, but I expect to start shipping orders next week. I will start with orders that have all items currently in stock. Please keep in mind that while shipping begins next week, there are over 1k orders, so it's going to take several weeks to ship orders. I expect to ship all orders out by the end of August. Orders are shipped in the following order, surveys completed before and by the lockdown date (keep in mind thats about 90% of all orders), preorders, and then any orders completed after the lockdown date.
If you have any questions about your order, please email me at [email protected]. I don't often check comments on this page, so it's best to email.
Cheers,
Liz
