BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

When will the games and plushies ship?

Park Life, including the Storm Expansion, are printed and ready to ship! If you only back the games or expansion, they will be sent out in December 2024. Due to the holidays, it will take a few weeks to arrive. If you also back the new hedgehog plushie bag, we'll ship all the Park Life stuff together when the plushie is done. We're waiting to approve the final sample before manufacturing the hedgehog, but if there are any issues it will cause delays. The plushie can be done as soon as December 2024, as late as next November 2025. +++++++++++++ Lucky Cat is ready to ship. It was produced a long time ago, and we have less than 100 copies remaining. The contract with the artist and original publisher are over, so these are the last copies! Doom Cat has not started being produced yet. My goal is to have the Doom Cat game and plushies done before May 2025. But worst case scenario they'll be done in November 2025 also. Note that our first two kickstarters, Lucky Cat and Park Life, were shipped early 6 months and 7 months early (only took 6 and 5 months each)! We're based in Shanghai, China, so fast production and international logistics are our advantage!

What's the difference between Hedgehog and People editions?

Park Life Hedgehog = Stream-lined Family version. Complexity 1.5/5 The Hedgehog edition was designed for families and players new to trick taking games, and as a stand alone expansion for People Edition. The deck only has numbers 1-10 and hedgehog art. It is very quick to teach! You play until someone wins 2 rounds, and caterpillars add extra points if you didn't win a round yet so players can catch up. Park Life Hedgehog Deluxe = Super Family version. Complexity 2.0/5 This adds high value cards (11,15,20) that are harder to win with, but powerful when you do. It increases the player count to 8, or hand size up to 20! So the rounds get more strategic and exciting than without the deluxe cards. But the added complexity isn't recommended for the first play, or for players new to trick-taking. Park Life People = Gamer version 2.5/5 This is my favorite. It is an elegant trick taking game that adds set collecting and tableau building cards. If you're looking for a great filler game you can always carry with you, this is the best. It is not hard to teach, but it's more complicated than the stream-lined hedgehog version. This is also the best deck for SOLO and CO-OP, as long as you download the deluxe rulebook. Park Life People Deluxe = Super Gamer version 3.0/5 This is for players already deep into Park Life. It adds powerful set collecting and wild cards, but they have a high cost. If you can't maximize their value, the high cost will make you lose. The deluxe game is balanced for experienced players making mindful choices. Park Life Storm = Chaos and Control 3.5/5 The new expansion adds cards and rules to boost Hedgehog and/or People editions. It adds layers to the game that maximized the hand management part of the game, since there are more considerations when playing cards. This is a great add-on for Hedgehog edition because it makes the game more complex without adding much complications. This is also a great add-on for People edition to give even more paths to victory. If you combine Hedgehog, People, and Storm, you will have a huge deck for 1-8 players. Games are balanced at large player counts by letting multiple players win each trick. I recommend learning each game separately before shuffling everything together, but once you got it, it's one of the best large player count strategy card games you can find!

Any Exclusives or Limited Content?

I don't like FOMO and exclusive stuff. But... 🦔The wooden hedgehog bus token in the Storm Expansion is limited to the first print of 1000 copies. ☂️We unlocked a lot of stretch goals for Park Life in May. The current print run includes all of those. The cards we unlocked will stay in the games, but I'm not planning to include all the extra stickers in the deluxe boxes. 🐱Lucky Cat is limited to supplies on hand. I can't make more. The license with the artist ran out and the game was published under a different publisher than myself. 🦔The old Hedgehog Plushie Bag is also limited to supplies on hand. I switched factories because the old one was inconsistent in quality, raised their MOQ, and raised their prices. 🦑I'm not sure if I will do a second production of any of the Doom Cat plushies. So I may only produce 100 of each. A lot depends on what happens with import tax for America in the future.

Are there Stretch Goals?

We unlocked everything in May!!!
