How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

How Does backerkit work?
⭐️Backerkit works similarly to Kickstarter and other crowdfunding platforms in that fans “Pledge” for different tiers for items that they would want to order to support an artist. What if I want to change my tier?
⭐️If you have an early bird tier and change it, you won’t be able to get it back. Same if you cancel your pledge. Early Bird Tiers are special and limited and just for the first 48 Hours of the campaign. ⭐️If another item opens up, or another tier is created, you can switch to that tier by editing your pledge. ⭐️If you want to keep your tier but get more of an item you pledged for, or get additional items that have been unlocked through the campaign you can do so by adding some of the “Add-On” items to your pledge, which won’t effect your pledge tier, and you can just pay for the additional items you’ve added on.
How long will I have to wait to get my item?
We are crowdfunding the costs to produce a brand new creation that is not on the market! Therefor production times and shipping times will vary from a few months to sometimes even longer if there are issues in the factory, delays etc. For this campaign we already have the base prototypes for many of the items so we don’t anticipate it taking too long after we lock orders for things to go into production and hopefully get to us so we can start shipping. Also please do keep in mind that as of now we are only a team of TWO people me and my husband and we will be shipping eveyrthing ourselves so please have patience with us.
Why can’t I just buy the item right now?
Some of our products are already made and ready to ship that are in our add-on section, but many have not been produced yet, so you will have to wait until they are completed and approved and then shipped to us from China and then repackaged individually and shipped to you from me and my husband. May people have gotten used to Amazon speed, but we are an individual company creating and packaging everything with care, so you are getting better quality but it does also take more time.
I want to Wholesale your item and sell it retail what should I do?
Well first of all thank you! We are honored that you wish to carry our product in your own store! Just contact me or my husband directly and we will work out with you! We love to help other small businesses and are happy to see our creations reach new audiences through partnering with other retailers. We can discuss your space, and work with you on minimum orders and the wholesale special pricing, so you can also make a profit and help spread our creations further!
Do You Offer Refunds/ Exchanges?
During the campaign you have ample time to make your final decisions. We understand that unexpected situations occur but we are not amazon. I have trouble saying no and made some mistakes with my last campaign, so now after everything has been charged and production began we have a no refunds policy. Once the campaign is closed and orders are locked in and you’ve been charged we will not be allowing any refunds. For exchanges we are selling plush and due to safety issues we cant take back an item after its left our warehouse. We will be double and triple checking each plush and pin to make sure that what we send you has no issues. We also can not control how the mail is handled. We package things very well, but these days things can be mishandled. This is why we recommend opting for insurance on your packages and if you must get the package credited you can order a replacement. We also recommend not trying to use third party mail handling we go through USPS and package things nicely. So long story short, No we don’t offer Refunds or Exchanges anymore.
When will I pay for shipping?
In order to get the most economical prices and accurate shipping costs, we will charge shipping later in a separate transaction closer to the date of fulfillment. We will post an update to the project to let you know when to expect this charge.
Backer Surveys IMPORTANT!!
Make sure that you are following the campaign for updates, and double checking that when surveys go out that you have received yours. This is the ONLY way you will receive your items!!! I will no longer send individual person emails trying to hound everyone down to fill out their surveys. I did this last campaign because I’m a perfectionist, but it was exhausting and we are STILL missing 70 surveys. Now this is important: If you don’t fill out your survey and don’t provide your mailing address or pay shipping when the time comes your items will be FORFEIT!!! We will not hold on to them, we will not keep babysitting and trying to find you to make sure you get your items. We are dealing with close to a thousand orders and now even more! You are responsible to fill out YOUR survey! I’m sorry if this sounds harsh but I’ve learned a lot and gotten a lot of support from other artists who helped me to see I was being waaaay too nice to my own detriment. Make sure you are getting your emails I am happy to correct your email address if it pulled the wrong one for the survey. Make sure you’ve filled out the proper shipping info! If you don’t fill it out and we have shipped everything you won’t get to come back and do it later. You will have forfeited your items.
What happens if my pins are lost or my package never arrives?
We make every attempt to get your package from our facility to your home. Packages for this campaign will come with a tracking number. Regardless of tracking numbers, sometimes packages are lost in the mail. We will notify backers with an update when the project is near completion. If you have not received your package by the completion of the shipping process, you will have an extended period of time to contact us about a missing package.
