Project Update: Printing the inside of my poetry book

Hi backers! Thanks again for funding my poetry book!! Here’s what I did today.

I printed all of the poems and contents for the inside of the books today! I chose high quality paper that’s 32 lb weight so it’s nice organic paper that feels like book pages.

I chose to print in black ink in the end because it’s the easiest to read.

If you’d like to see a little process video I made today here it is!

Printing my poetry book!

You should all see backer surveys soon so I can get your names in my book. I’m just waiting on BackerKit to review my surveys. I’m so excited to make this for you! More news coming soon on this book and the art stickers I’m printing!

Love love love,

Project Update: New Prints and Poem Prints in the Works for Fulfillment!

Hello my dearest backers! Thank you so SO much for funding this campaign and making it possible for me to create my next poetry book and learn the art of Riso printing! Let's dive into updates.

The Latest

Essentially I have had to wait for BackerKit to process all the payments (as I'm sure you all noticed over the last couple weeks) and then deposit the backer money into my account before I could go buy paper and get started at Pickwick printing poems, art, and the poetry book. It all happened this week so thank you all again so much. I was able to go and get some nice paper for prints and also to begin printing my poetry book.

Art Prints

If you backed the art print tier, then you will have four options to choose from when the backer surveys go out. You have already seen one of the art prints, allow me to share with you the other three!

Both "Light's Wake" and "Quiet Spellcasting" are smaller prints, and "The Past as a Sculpture" is an 8.5 x 11. They are all on 65lb yardstick so the richness of the Riso ink takes nicely to the paper. I look forward to sending these out to you, art backers!

Poem Print

For my poem print I will be sending out, I chose my eclipse poem. It was a hit at the Portland Poets Society so it felt right to share it with you, my poem print backers, because you have helped me look up, up, up! As the poem says--to the sky, where my dreams are. Thank you for supporting me on this art journey. Here's a peep at your poem print in the color "Mint":

I do like this print, but now that I know more about colors on the Riso machine, I was thinking of doing this on black paper, with bright yellow or flat gold ink. What do you think of that idea, poem print backers? Or do you like this mint-on-creme look?

Poetry Book Progress

For many of you, you are here to get a copy of my handmade poetry book. Today I was able to learn on the Riso machine how to print double-sided pages in such a way that they make sense. So I have all of the pages prepared for the book itself and will be printing all of them this Thursday, May 16th. I'm very excited to show you more progress on this book on Thursday.

In the meantime, I am on the hunt for the perfect internal paper for the pages of the poetry book. I want to do something more apropos than just craft paper or printer paper. So more to come on the paper quality of the poetry book as well.

Stickers

Sticker print day is tomorrow, woohoo! Look forward to a couple posts this week, since I'll be printing out cute stickers tomorrow for everyone who added them to their pledge or already has a tier with my art stickers on it. Yay!

Wrap up

Thank you again so much for being on this journey with me. It really means so much to me that I get to go to the studio and work on my art, my poetry, and my printing skills to create things to send to you very soon. When I go to Pickwick and I work on these things, I think of you all and how you are here with me. I think of how you have enabled me to make magic with ink and paper and ideas. There are not enough thanks in the world for that, so I shall probably continue to overwhelm you with thanks, LOL! Farewell for today, and I will write to you again Thursday about stickers and poetry books.

Much love,
Coco

Project Update: Only 24 Hours Left to Get a Copy of Coco's Poetry Book!

Dearest backers, we're funded! Thank you so much for helping me fund this project. I am really looking forward to printing this poetry book that I've designed especially for you and for this campaign. Thank you to everyone for contributing and helping me cross the finish line.

There are still 24 hours left to order a copy of this book and it's the only way to get one! There won't be another printing like this, so if you would like a copy don't hesitate to get one before tomorrow at 12pm EST.

The next steps are for me to continue production on these extra special handmade clothbound poetry books and the stickers, send out some backer surveys for various reasons, and send out more updates. I hope you enjoy some pictures of the draft preview clothbound copy I made at home.

I appreciate your contributions to this campaign and to those who reached out over the last few weeks regarding my grandfather's memorial, and extra special thank you. Your kindness, support, and empathy has helped me in some dark moments during April.

I am here, this campaign is funded, and I will be able to print these poetry books and stickers because of the funds you are giving. So thank you again. I was unsure if we would make it for a moment, but we did. The next step is the creation phase, and that is the best part. You have made that phase possible.

Much more to come, and much love to you all,
Coco

Project Update: Just three weeks left! Poetry book sneak peek~

Dearest friends and backers, I've been working hard on my digital version of my poetry book which I will use to print the book on the Risograph machine very soon.

It has definitely been something of a process, more of which I will dive into for my backers. But for everyone I want to give a little sneak preview of some of the pages that are looking pretty good.

Draft page while I work on designing the book

For this poetry book, I am using old vintage plate illustrations that are copyright free and some are over one hundred years old. I like the look of them and I think they'll look great printed with the Riso machine!

If you haven't had a chance to back this project, now is the time to donate! It's the only way to get my upcoming poetry book printed. Thank you for being here.
