Project Update: Knowledge Asymmetry is Funded!
Hello!
Thank you so much to everyone who chipped in to Knowledge Asymmetry's entry in Mothership Month! This is Columbary TTRPG's first fundraiser and we started off genuinely uncertain if we would even hit our funding goal, but almost 400 of you who I've never met chose to take this project a lot further than we hoped. We're so grateful for all of your support!
Here's what's happening next:
Payment: You are probably seeing your BackerKit payment being charged as we speak. In the next 2 weeks or so this money will be transferred first from BackerKit to Stripe (BackerKit's payment processor), and then finally from Stripe into Columbary TTRPG's account. If you've had a payment error or failed charge please check on and update your payment info. Note that our fulfillment partner will be charging shipping fees at a later date (immediately before fulfillment). I'll have more details on that in later updates.
Production: In a few weeks when we get the funding from Stripe, Columbary TTRPG can begin production in earnest. The art in Knowledge Asymmetry is being split between Jettila Lewis and myself. Jettila Lewis's illustrations are already well underway, but with the first payments at the end of the December her work can really flourish. In the meantime I'm working with her input on my own ship illustrations, maps, and faction logos. From there we'll put together Knowledge Asymmetry in layout, stitching together the factions and polishing over the next couple of months. We plan on getting our first test prints in the spring after that, then moving on to the final print order and bonus materials.
Fulfillment: Physical and digital fulfillment is expected to begin in Q2 2025. Physical orders will be managed by Space Penguin Ink. They will contact you for shipping fees and addresses through Pledge Manager once we get closer to this date.
Timeline: Columbary TTRPG is just me: Ben King, a grocery clerk and dog walker in Chicago IL USA. Everyone in Mothership Month has a day job, and work on Knowledge Asymmetry is split with my full-time job. Jettila Lewis is working on her contributions to this project alongside her other art commissions. We believe we've allotted ample time to fulfill this project, but there may be unforeseeable bumps in the road- illness, family emergencies, asteroid impacts. We'll always let you know if we run into delays or need to adjust our fulfillment schedule. We'll communicate often and openly about developments; you've put your trust in us and we'll be as transparent as we can in return.
Updates: Expect updates on our progress to be posted roughly monthly. Keep your eyes open for spoiler free art and layout snippets in these updates as work continues on the booklet. Speaking of art teasers, here are some of the crew from Pan & Rose Shipbreakers; evidence disposal specialists, and Wulco Ship Works; makers of unregulated black-market ship upgrades.
