Welcome to the Celestial Insects project! This project is to fund the production of several enamel pin designs- all based on insects with design elements inspired by celestial bodies and astronomical events. The initial goal for this project is just $600, which will fund the production of the Sun and Moon Beetle pair, with subsequent goals allowing the production of more pin designs, alternate-color versions of the Sun and Moon Beetle, and other items. Crowdfunding on this platform means you can pledge for these items, and your card won't be charged unless the campaign is successful! You can change your pledge at any time before the end of the campaign (February 13th), and if you missed anything in the initial campaign, you can always add items to your order when the survey and pre-order store open at the end of February.
Now about those pins! All pins will be hard enamel, which means the surface of the pin is sanded down to make a perfectly flat and even surface across the pin. Each pin design will also feature 2 pin posts to keep them extra secure where ever you pin them. All pins will come with star-shaped rubber clasps, though if you would prefer metal butterfly clasps there will be an option in the survey to opt for those instead.
The initial goal of $600 will fund the production of these two pins: Sun and Moon Beetle Pair
These two will each be 2 inches wide from wingtip to wingtip, and will each have two pin posts for extra security. Pins will be made of hard enamel and feature gold plating. Beetles can be purchased individually or as a set
Secondary Goal: $800 Nova Scorpion
This scorpion pin will be roughly 2 inches tall, and will have gold plating and two pin posts to keep it extra secure on whatever you pin it to. The red nova will also have a pearlescent finish for a cool swirly effect!
Minor Goal, Atlas World Beetle Keychain: $900 As an intensive for further pledges, I am adding several 'minor goals' which will add non-pin items to the campaign! The first of these is a 2- part keychain featuring one of my favorite beetles- the Atlas Beetle! A perfect addition to a campaign full of celestial bodies. This keychain features an atlas beetle with a star in its head, and a globe charm that hangs below its feet. Beetle portion will be 2.5 inches wide and 2ish inches tall, and the earth charm will be 1 inch wide/tall; for a total hanging length of roughly 3.5 inches.
Third Goal: $1,200 World Eater Spider
Pin will be 2 inches wide, have gold plating, and two pin posts. Colors may change slightly before the end of the campaign, but an update will be posted if there are any major design changes
Minor Goal 2, Sun and Moon Beetle Keychains: $1,300 The second minor goal will unlock keychain versions of the sun and moon beetles. Keychains will be 2.5 inches wide from wingtip to wingtip and feature gold 'hot stamping' lineart for a unique and eye-catching look! The lineart on these keychains will be shiny gold, just like their pin counterparts as well as gold hook-shaped clasps so you can attach them to a purse, bag, keys, or lanyard.
Unlocks at $1,400: FREEBIE sticker! all backers will receive this Free-bee sticker! Stickers are made with a waterproof vinyl and light-resistant ink so you can put them on your waterbottle, notebooks, laptop, or car. Each backer getting a physical reward will get one of these stickers, but if you want extras you'll be able to add more to your order at the end of the campaign.
Unlocks at $1,650: Gas Giant LadyBug Pin This lady bug pin, inspired by the gas giant Jupiter, will be 2 inches wide and feature 2 pin posts with matching star-shaped rubber clutches.
Unlocks at $1,750: Galaxy Bee Gold Foil Keychain Just like the Sun and Moon Beetle keychains, this keychain will have gold detailing around the edge of the honeycomb and the star in the center of the bee. Pledge for a gold-foil keychain now- or add it to your existing pledge! Comes with a gold- star shaped clasp, and featuring a semitransparent honeycomb background for a unique look.

The primary goal of this campaign is to fund the creation of several new enamel pin designs. The vast majority of the money raised here on Backerkit will go towards pin production (80%), and the rest will be split between shipping, campaign extras, and processing fees
Timeline: January 23rd: Campaign Begins February 13th: Campaign ends February 13th through February 28th: Cards charged, funds collected, surveys sent and filled out Early March: Designs submitted to manufacturer, Pin production begins March: Production (this can take 2-4 weeks) and pins are sent to me April: I receive the pins, sort and quality check them, and send them to you!
I hope to have all rewards sent to their new homes by the end of May. This will allow for any extra production time, shipping time, and order processing time. If everything goes right, you may even get your reward(s) early! Remember to keep an eye out for updates for any timeline changes, shipping updates, and other important information.
Your card will NOT be charged until the end of the campaign. Please keep an eye on your email between February 13th and 20th to make sure your card is charged correctly or you will not receive your reward.
