BackerKit FAQ
How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
PINS: Will the enamel pins be exclusive to this campaign?
We do anticipate the artists each having some designs to sell individually as well as B-grade designs later if they so choose assuming all pins are funded. But in general, only the Sakura Dragon and Hops dragon are exclusive, we won't be ordering more than a small quality buffer of each of those designs and they won't be restocked if there are any leftovers. Backing the corresponding campaigns is the only way to obtain them at this time.
PINS: Are these finalized designs?
Pretty much, these designs have been finalized design wise, and we aim to closely match the original art as possible. There may be very small differences in production, but mostly due to photos and screen display compared to real life, and we will endeavor top match them as accurately as possible while still fulfilling in a reasonable time frame. any changes more than very faint will be communicated in updates.
INTERNATIONAL: Shipping is limited or suspended to my country, what would I do if I backed?
If you are in a country that by the campaign is no longer accepting packages from the USA (or anywhere) please send me a message. We do have a method to still accommodate your order until it can be shipped if you still want to back and secure your pins. 1) Wait and see till the end of the campaign survey collection and check your postal service. 2 A) If you can, but shipping status changes before pins get to me for quality control and mailed off, see #3. 2 B) If you can't get your rewards now, message me here to your survey with your order based on what you plan to purchase (so I can count your pins in the order tally. It is ok to change your mind and choose less. I won't hold it against you. Please let me know your max likely order) 2 C) If you can get deliveries now, I'll send you a coupon to use and all goes as planned. Make your order and we will go from there. 3) If it changes again, let me know. I'll hold onto your order as long as required to make sure you get your order. However, once they leave my home with the USPS, I no longer have any control of your package.
OTHER: What are the retail prices of these pins once the campaign has completed?
The prices are estimated to be about $18-$20 per pin once in the shop. We don't anticipate making much of any profit through the project, with any extras mostly going to make minimum order fees per design. You are funding and supporting our campaign at basically cost, a couple cents payment for work, plus a little flexibility for manufacturer error or other problems that may arise (and a bit towards bonus pin from each order).
