BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

When will Issue #1 be available in print?

QTR 1 2025

Is this only compatible for D&D 2024 (5.5)? I thought AAW supported multiple game systems.

We are streamlining this magazine 100% for compatibility with D&D 2024. In the future we may convert issues to other game systems, but there are no plans to do so at this time. Some of our products (like the Mini-Dungeon Tomes) are available for a number of systems such as Pathfinder 1e, Pathfinder 2e, Savage Worlds, and Starfinder.

Is this really compatible with D&D 2024? How can that be given that two of the books haven't even been released yet?

While it is correct that two books for D&D 2024 are still waiting for their release, we have managed to extrapolate alterations in the underlying math, rules language, game aesthetics and presentation. While minor formatting discrepancies might admittedly happen, we are confident that we nailed D&D 2024’s requirements and style.

In the past AAW Games has charged really high international S&H. What changed? How did you get these lower rates?

S&H prices have been skyrocketing for years, making this an uphill battle for an indie outfit like AAW, but thankfully, we have partnered with the fantastic teams at Aetherworks (AU/NZ) and Spiral Galaxy (UK/EU) to allow for lower S&H costs.

If I can't back this project now, will I still be able to get this magazine later?

Most likely, yes, but we cannot 100% guarantee that there will be enough stock. We are doing a limited print-run of each issue so availability all depends upon how many distributors and game shops pick up this magazine.

How do I get this magazine into my local game shop?

Ask them to order from their distributor. If they still have trouble they may contact AAW Games directly to obtain a list of distributors from which they may order. We have distributors in the UK, Australia/New Zealand, and the USA with plans to eventually have a distributor in the EU proper (UK currently for EU). https://adventureaweek.com/contact/

Do/will you have this for [insert VTT name here]?

We currently offer Adventure Arcs Issue #1: The Red Tree of Grudges for Foundry VTT, Roll20, Fantasy Grounds, and Alchemy. There are no plans to expand to other virtual tabletops, but we also aren't opposed to the idea, but that will be outside this campaign and at a later date.
