One Hundred Dungeons is a collection of hand-drawn word puzzles where your vocabulary is the only thing standing between you and the exit. It's a word game, a puzzle, an adventure and an escape all on one page. Play digitally or print & play.
One Hundred Dungeons is a collection of hand-drawn word puzzles where your vocabulary is the only thing standing between you and the exit. It's a word game, a puzzle, an adventure and an escape all on one page. Print and play, or play on device using interactive PDFs.
This is a fully digital puzzle book. Each dungeon is an adventure you can play in 5 to 15 minutes. Your words form a path through the dungeon. Unlock doors, loot treasure and grab gemstones, all with your vocabulary.
Each turn, place letters onto the grid to form a word, horizontally or vertically. Your first word passes through the starting square. Every new word connects your previous words. These words build a path through the dungeon. Check out the How to play videos below.
Your path is determined entirely by the words you know, the shape of the dungeon and the scoring challenges. There's no tile limit or letter rack.
Some dungeons reward you for long words. Some ask you to collect matching gems. Some hide treasure behind locked doors that need a key.
When a letter lands on or next to the exit square, you leave the dungeon. Total up your score and prepare for your next adventure.
One Hundred Dungeons now comes as an interactive PDF. Open the file, tap a grid square then type your letters. No app or account needed. Just the dungeon whenever you want it.
It works on your phone, tablet and computer. I've tested it on iOS, Android, Mac and PC across browsers and PDF viewers. Wherever you usually read a PDF, this should work. It's the same hand-drawn dungeons and the same satisfying moment when the right word clicks into place.
Try it out yourself here and here (it works best on the free Adobe Acrobat viewer).
One Hundred Dungeons - Print & Play and Interactive versions
Rules and Player guides - everything you need to know about how to play
The Adventurer's Almanac - a place to record your adventures and scores
The Community Crypts - even more dungeons submitted by the Word Dungeon community
Every dungeon has a difficulty rating so you can pick your challenge. You can dip in for a quick five minute puzzle on your lunch break or prepare yourself something that really makes you work.
Every backer of One Hundred Dungeons receives a bonus set of dungeons called the Community Crypts for free. All dungeons in this set are designed and submitted by the Word Dungeon community.
The first 50 dungeons sketched out and sent in will be drawn up in the Word Dungeon style and added to the collection. You'll be credited by name and get to name your dungeon.
Your dungeon needs an entrance, an exit, a workable solution and at least one scoring mechanic. Beyond that, it's yours to design. Full submission details are here.
Want to know how many Crypts are included, check the image below!
If you're new to Word Dungeon, the original collection is available as an add-on for £5.
Three complete, full-sized, dungeon adventures, each with its own mechanics and challenges. Word Dungeon, Treasure Depths and The Labyrinth. The collection that started it all, and the one that placed 4th overall in BoardGameGeek's 2025 Solitaire Print and Play Competition.
Every single dungeon in this collection has been planned, drawn and tested by hand. All the corridors, rooms, gems, treasure chests and locked doors are drawn with intention to create unique puzzles for you to play.
One Hundred Dungeons is a low-ink, monochrome print and play. In fact the original Word Dungeons came first in the 'Low Ink' category of the 2025 Solitaire Print and Play competition. I print my dungeons on fancy paper (like the ones in the campaign images) but you can use any paper you like or play them digitally. Some folk even print and then laminate the games!
