Project Update: Survey reminder

Hey everyone, just a quick reminder to fill out your Pledge Manager survey! Most of you have already, and we appreciate that! Sometimes a friendly nudge is all you need to remember to sit down and do a thing, so that's all this is.

We just had our Online Spring Festival this past weekend, and everyone had a great time! Big thanks to our Tech Committee—Kona, Star, Jerry, and Travis—who put in a lot of work to make sure we didn't skip an online event this year, and to our volunteers Bill, AnnaMaria, and Andi, plus our safety advocate Red, who helped facilitate the event through the weekend.

Coming up next of course is the July in-person event! We'll be opening up general ticket sales soon, and will keep you posted on that so you can tell any friends who missed the crowdfunding campaign!

Project Update: Surveys have been sent!

Hey everyone, just a quick note that all the Pledge Manager surveys have gone out! Check your email for the link!

Also, we overlooked a detail—we forgot to update our timeline before sending the surveys. The Pledge Manager is not locking down this Wednesday April 24. While we do hope you'll get your surveys filled out soon, don't worry, you have more than a day to get that done! We're currently expecting to lock things down by June 1 so we have time to get the physical rewards produced, and we'll send a reminder before we do so.

Sorry for any confusion! Thanks to those of you who've already responded!

Oh and by the way, don't forget that we also have our online Spring Festival coming up soon, Saturday May 4 and Sunday May 5, on our Discord server. We hope to see you then!

Project Update: Pledge Manager is opening, surveys are going out!

Hey everyone, we’re ready to launch the Pledge Manager and send out our backer surveys!

For most of you, this is when you’ll tell us the name and pronouns you want on your badge. For some of you, you’ll also let us know what name or organization you want recognized for sponsoring our event. And for all of you, this is your final opportunity to order the tote bag and/or dungeon map poster, as well as pick up additional badges or sponsorships, through the add-ons.

Initially the survey will go out to only a small number of you, to give us a chance to make sure we’ve got everything set up correctly for the different levels, and then we’ll send it out to the rest of you. So if you don’t get a survey right away, don’t panic, it’s coming!

Please do fill out your survey as soon as you can! Although we’re not shipping any physical rewards, we do still need time to get those produced, and that goes too for preparing the badges and sponsorship recognitions.

Thanks so much for your support! We can’t wait to see you in July, it’ll be sooner than you think!

Project Update: Tote final design, Online Spring Festival May 4 & 5!

We have the final tote bag design from Sovanny, which we’re thrilled to share with you! It’s pretty similar to the previous version but at our request she swapped a couple panels and turned one into an adventure scene to give it all a better balance. We’re very happy with the results, and we believe you will be too!

Tote bag final design!

Did you pass up on pledging for the tote bag during the campaign? Are you having regrets? Well, we have good news for you: the Pledge Manager will open up next week, and among the options will be adding the tote bag to your existing pledge. (The poster print of Tony’s dungeon map will be another add-on, too!) Please note that we are not shipping any physical rewards—in order to add either the tote bag or the poster, you must have pledged for a level that includes a badge for you to attend our July event in person.

Meanwhile, we also want to remind you that our Online Spring Festival is coming up in one month on May 4 and 5! It’s free to attend for anyone who’s joined our Discord, and you can find more information and the Discord invitation link on our website’s Spring Festival page. We are also looking for some volunteers to help us manage the Spring Festival, including Friendly Faces, Tech Team members, and Donut volunteers. See our Online Spring Festival Volunteer Sign-Up Form for more information and to apply!

Join our Discord for our Online Spring Festival! And perhaps volunteer?

Thanks again for all your support through our campaign! We’ll have the BackerKit survey out to you next week and open up the Pledge Manager, and we hope to see you join us at the Online Spring Festival in May!

Project Update: Go Play NW 2024 is on! Thank you so much!

We did it! You did it, you and 64 others stepping forward to pledge for Go Play NW 2024! By supporting our campaign, you’ve helped ensure we can fulfill our core mission—bringing people together to play games and make friends. In other words: Go Play NW 2024 is happening in person this July 26–28, and you’re making it happen!

We’re really excited to return to the Centilia Cultural Center, and that we’ll be able to have more outdoor gaming space with tents to provide better shade during the day, and extra space in the El Centro de la Raza building! And while Tony’s been dreaming up a dungeon map that captures the spirit of Go Play NW, our organizers E.T. and Star have been eagerly tossing around ideas for the badge mini game that can tie into the map. We’ll put together a spiffy program booklet that’ll have space for more information about the Beacon Hill neighborhood as well as the convention itself, and those of you who pledged for Sovanny’s tote bag—or the dungeon map poster—will have a cool new tote to carry around this stuff with your games!

We’re getting the pledge manager set up now to handle all the post-campaign business like getting your badge information and offering an opportunity for you to pick up some add-ons. You can expect to receive the BackerKit survey in early April.

We’ll have more information for you soon, once the survey’s ready. For now we just want to say once again, thank you so much for making this campaign a success and Go Play NW 2024 possible! Also, special shout-out to our members Sev, who put the last-day challenge on the table, and Bill, who picked up the challenge and pushed it to the goal! Thanks for your generosity!

Project Update: It’s Go time! Let’s meet the challenge!

Today’s the day, this is the hour to pledge to support Go Play NW 2024! And we have a challenge on the tableif we can reach $12,500 in pledges today, a generous member has offered to match the funds to bring us up to $15,000 and increase our game space!

We’re already 85% of the way toward our second stretch goal, turning the badge zine into a mini game authored by our staff and producing a separate, larger program booklet for the con. We need just under $2,000 to reach that goal, and we can hit that if you and 19 others pledge now at the Badge level! I know there’s at least another 20 of you out there who are planning to attend this year’s event in July. If you can step up today to claim your membership, that’s a huge help to us for planning and for covering our up-front expenses to make the event happen!

And what about expanding our gaming space? We still have another stretch goal that includes providing tents to make the outdoor gaming space more comfortable, and adding more rooms in the El Centro building. Thanks to our challenge offer, we can have that too if you pledge now!

This is an incredible opportunity for us to make Go Play NW 2024 the best it can be, and that’s what the whole campaign is about: making a great space for you to come together for a fun weekend of playing games, seeing your friends, and making new friends. Go Play NW is a nonprofit social club—we’re here for our members, and our members are you! You make Go Play NW happen, and we’re asking you now to participate by pledging for your membership. Thank you so much for all your support through this campaign—let’s make a big finish! The campaign ends at 5 PM Pacific today!

Project Update: One day left, let's hit ANOTHER GOAL!

We’re excited to say yesterday evening we reached $10,000 in pledges and hit our first stretch goal! Yes, we’ll be transforming your everyday average convention name badge into a spiffy handcrafted eight-page mini zine name badge! Thank you all so much for helping us reach this level!

But are we stopping there? No way! We still have 36 hours to go, and that means we still have time to reach the next stretch goal—turning the mini-zine badge into a mini solo game badge, and moving the con information into its own larger-format booklet. Can we reach that stretch goal too? Yes—we're 80% there, and all it takes is you and 24 others to pledge now for your membership and badge to attend Go Play NW 2024!

Of course, as we reviewed for you in our weekend update, we can reach that goal with fewer people pledging for the higher reward levels—ranging from the tote bag to the dungeon map print, a table sponsorship, your name featured in the dungeon map, a room sponsorship, or even the whole collection at the Ba(c)ker’s Dozen level. Plus you can still pledge for a sponsored badge in our pool for those who need one, and add some extra support through the con sponsorship level.

But let’s be real, Go Play NW is about bringing people—you, your friends, and your friends-to-be—to the table to play games together. We know there are more of you out there planning to attend in July, we want to see more of you join us, and all you need to make that happen is to pledge for a badge now! Remember, it all ends tomorrow, Wednesday evening, at 5 PM Pacific Time!

Project Update: Let’s reach $10K by Monday!

Why a weekend update? Well, we’re so close to reaching $10,000 and our first stretch goal, but we’re also so close to the end of the campaign! Can we reach that goal by Monday?? Yes, if you and nine others pledge now to claim your membership and badge to attend Go Play NW 2024 in July!

Or we can do it in fewer steps, even. There are still two spots available for the Ba(c)ker’s Dozen, which gets you all the rewards—your membership and badge to attend, the dungeon map PDF and poster with your name featured as an element, the tote, and your name listed on our website as a sponsor! If those two spots are claimed this weekend, we’ll hit the goal!

Or how about a Room Sponsorship? We’ll feature your name on a sign at the entrance to one of our gaming rooms to show our thanks for your extra support! Six spots are still available at that level, and just claiming three would make us hit the goal!

No one’s claimed a Table Sponsorship yet—we’ll feature your name on a table tent to show our thanks for your extra support, helping bring gamers to the table. If just you and four others pledge at this level, we’ll hit the goal!

Then there’s the Dungeon Master level, getting your name featured in our dungeon map; there’s the Dungeoneer’s Pack, getting an 11x17” risograph print of the dungeon map; the Tote and Badge level, to pick up the cool and handy tote bag; or the Con Sponsorship and Badge Sponsorship levels, helping others to attend Go Play NW in person. So many ways that you can help us reach our goal this weekend! But only if you pledge now!

So let’s reach that $10,000 and the zine badge by Monday! Or sooner, sooner is fine too! And then we’ll still have time to strive for another stretch goal before it all ends Wednesday evening!

Project Update: It’s totes time to pledge!

We’ve had Sovanny hard at work refining a design for our tote bag; we’re not quite ready to reveal the final one, but we’re so excited by her progress that we can’t wait to show you the near-final version now!

The near-final design by Sovanny Vorn for our 2024 tote bag.

Why show you a not-quite-finished design now? Because we’re in the last seven days of the campaign, and your time to claim this reward is almost up! This is your best opportunity to get the tote bag along with your membership and badge to attend Go Play NW 2024! Or the 11x17” poster print of the dungeon map, or to have your name featured as a table or room sponsor, or any of the other rewards!

This campaign is our primary funding drive for the year. All pledges help ensure we cover our costs for the year and move us closer to the stretch goals we’d like to reach to make the July event the best it can be. So don’t wait, it’s totes time to claim your membership—and a cool tote bag—by pledging for Go Play NW 2024!

Level up the badge with us! When we meet this goal, we’ll transform our ordinary badges into a miniature eight-page zine program, just like we had in 2023. They’ll fit right into your badge holder, and help you know what’s what and where’s where!
Goal: $10,000 reached! — We did it! This project reached this goal!

Project Update: One week to Go! Become part of the dungeon today!

Tony’s given us a blueline sketch of his concept for the dungeon map. Check it out!

A sketch of a dungeon map incorporating the words Go Play NW into the design, with many rooms labeled “your name here”.

What’s missing from it? Your name as a feature of the map! There’s lots of possibilities, but only a little time left to make that happen! After today there are just seven days left to Go—the campaign ends next Wednesday, March 27, at 5 PM Pacific!

When you pledge at the Dungeon Master level, in addition to your name being featured in the dungeon map, you also get an 11x17” poster print and a digital copy of the map, the tote bag designed by Sovanny, and your name listed on our website as a sponsor of the event. All that along with your membership in Go Play NW for 2024 and a badge to attend our in-person event in July, but only if you pledge now!

Your pledges for levels like the Dungeon Master also give us the extra support we need to make Go Play NW 2024 happen. With seven days left, now’s the time for you to give that support and pledge for your membership to Go Play NW!

Project Update: Who’s your favorite Go? (Is it… Go Play NW?)

Your favorite Go is… Sunday Morning Pancakes Go, drawn by our own Kona Goodhart! Here’s Go, still bleary-eyed, but all dressed up in living color:

Fortifying with pancakes and coffee, Go’s getting ready for the home stretch of the campaign, but we’re not there yet! We still have 13 days to go, and $1,300 to our first stretch goal, with more beyond that. Can we pass that first goal and start working toward our mini-game zine stretch before the final week? Yes, if you pledge now!

The stretch goals aren’t just fun additions to the campaign—hitting those goals helps us make our July event the best it can be, and sets us up to get through the year and beyond! Stepping up now to pledge for your badge—or a sponsored badge for someone who otherwise couldn’t attend—is the best way to make that happen. Thanks for all your support so far, now eat up your pancakes and coffee (or other preferred breakfast) and let’s Go Play NW!

Project Update: One week left to vote for After Dark! Plus, $1,500 to go for our first stretch goal!

Have you voted in our After Dark poll? We’re looking to hold another extra-late-night session during the Online Spring Festival, from midnight to 4 AM Sunday May 5, but we need to know if there’s enough interest to make it happen! Let us know by voting before 5 PM next Monday, March 18!

Meanwhile, we have just under $1,500 to go before hitting our first stretch goal, unlocking the eight-page mini-zine badge! And we’re really excited to get started on what comes next—transforming that mini-zine into a solo game! Our convention staff, including Star West, have been plotting out concepts that include pairing the game with Tony Dowler’s dungeon map and featuring exploration of the Beacon Hill neighborhood where our event will be. But, we only get to make that game if we can reach that next stretch goal—all the more reason for you to pledge today!

Thanks for all your support so far, and let’s keep going! Our campaign ends in just over two weeks! Don’t forget, we’re aiming for more gaming space as our third stretch goal! Pledge now to get us there!
