To collect fountain pens, you need to be part archeologist, part curator, part technician, but most of all you need a deep love and appreciation for the practice of putting pen to paper. A collection knows the whole story for each pen in their collection - every historical detail to every bit of personality to how it writes. This sort of "looking deeper" into the objects in our lives is core to who we are at Allegory. So, when we decided to create a pen collectors portfolio, we focused on versatility. We looked for a design that could account for all the subtle quirks of each pen.
Design
The Reliquary will feature a full-zip enclosure, a panel of full leather sleeves, and another panel of fully adjustable elastics. Some design tweaks inspired by our conversations with collectors will allow you to tailor the spot for each pen with just the right amount of hold and protection in just the right places.
The design accounts for the whole spectrum of sizes, ages, and stories behind each cherished writing instrument. There is no loose storage that would allow pens to damage each other and no excessive pressure that could wear fragile components or finishes - just the perfect home for each pen in your collection.
Heirloom Quality
It starts with premium 4.5 oz. Ecuadorian Latigo leather, far thicker and more durable than the split hides commonly used in leatherwork. Then comes the handcrafting process in our workshop just outside of Chicago. And we back it all with our lifetime replacement guarantee.
We're launching the Reliquary with a pre-order campaign on BackerKit so that the community can help us make final improvements to the design and receive a portfolio from the first (and possibly only) production run. Subscribe with your email below to join the conversation and be the first notified when we launch. We'll also be offering all our other fountain pen accessories at crowdfunding prices so you won't want to miss it!
