Folks tell of a magic woman up there on Blackwine Mountain. Not a witch -- like those handmaidens of the Devil are called -- but a creature entirely less civilized. Now, being uncivilized ain't the same as being evil, any more than bein' civilized makes you righteous. Those are two different things entirely.
Take the preacher down in Barley Corner. Carries on every Sunday 'bout the Evils of Drink, and how it makes good folk do bad things. Well, he ought to know. But I'm gettin' ahead myself.
'Bout a year ago, Preacher's best friend went missin' on the night of the Barley Moon. There was girl involved. And corn liquor, too. But you probably guessed as much.
No one ever answered for what happened under the Barley Moon that night. Now, that ol' moon's on the rise, and you can feel a savage magic stirrin' up on Blackwine Mountain. Seems like a reckonin' is about to come.
Exhuming John Barleycorn is a Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC) compatible adventure set in the Shudder Mountains. Although the scenario could be dropped into just about any DCC game, it shines like a full moon over the holler as part of the Appalachian world of The Chained Coffin written by Michael Curtis and published by Goodman Games.
More than just an adventure, we'll be including patron spells for Nengal, "The Wild One," new folk magic, new magic items, and more!
