Voidheart Symphony is a tabletop roleplaying game about magical grassroots resistance. You and your friends play rebels - people on the edges of society who’ve been abused by the great machine that is the castle. By day, you struggle to thrive in a world that doesn’t want you to exist. By night, you enter the castle, ready to tear the cruel inhabitants to shreds with magical weaponry and powers granted by the connections you’ve forged in the real world.
Voidheart Symphony uses distinct interlocking rules systems to empower your stories. A free-flowing, action-oriented Powered by the Apocalypse system governs your kick-in-the-door exploration and desperate fights in the castle; a modified version of Heart: The City Beneath’s Resistance system keeps track of your struggles in reality, and provides a wide variety of ways the bastards can grind you down. As you gain support and make connections, a plethora of allies allow you to fight longer, shine brighter, and maybe afford to turn the heating on when it’s cold.
It’s been six years since the first release of Voidheart Symphony and we’ve learned a lot since then. We’re taking this opportunity to make the play experience as evocative, straightforward, and exciting as we can. We’ve also redesigned the layout and we’re doubling the size of the book from A5 to US Letter, for ease of use at the table (and to really give our award-winning designer a chance to flex).
