Yes - it's hard to believe it was forty years ago when Lion-O, Cheetara, Panthro, and the gang debuted to the delight of kids everywhere. These incredible feline heroes had incredible over the top adventures and thrilling sci-fi action in a one-of-a-kind cartoon series. It was an immediate hit and later that same year, Star Comics would produce the first Thundercats comics. Those books captured the imagination of kids everywhere and were a big part of many comic book collectors' childhoods.

The original Thundercats comic books were a very special series to so many comic book fans. These comics have been out of print for nearly four decades and they are next to impossible to get. When you can get them they are quite expensive - the single issues selling for hefty sums on eBay and other outlets.

We are so lucky to have some of the most influential creators that worked on The Thundercats back in 1985 working with us today on the new Thundercats Omnibus collections. In fact - two of the most pivotal creators are contributing a Foreword and Afterwork to the new collection.
Mike Carlin - legendary Inkpot & Eisner award winning editor is contributing an awesome foreword to the volume that details his time as the Thundercats editor at Marvel. The stories and behind the scenes tales that led to the Star Comics run are part of his incredible legacy in the comics market.
Brett Breeding - the original inker on many Thundercats comic book issues has created an amazing legacy on these comics. We are thrilled to have Brett on board contributing a wonderful editorial on the early days of the first Thundercats comic book series.
Larry Kenney - needs no introduction! The voice of Lion-O in the classic Thundercats cartoon series, Larry is contributing an editorial to the collecctions recounting his journey as one of the icons of a cartoon generation.
We are lucky to have the holy grail of Thundercats autographs available for this fun project! Larry Kenney - the voice of Lion-O from the original cartoon series is working with us to supply fans with the ultimate Thundercats collectibles. Larry is signing the Thundercats Hardcover Edition and also signing two of his exclusive comics - Thundercats #1 (new series) and Cheetara #1!
Larry has voiced some of the most legendary characters from classic cartoons. In addition to Lion-O from the Thundercats, he also brought Bluegrass from Silverhawks and Dolph from Tiger Sharks to life! If that wasn't enough - he also voiced Count Chocula and Sonny the Cuckoo Bird in the cereal commercials. Larry's voiceover career has spanned decades and he was also a part of the new Thundercats cartoon (2011) and Thundercats Roar.

One of the most wonderful parts about the original Thundercats comic book run was the amazing list of creators who contributed to the wonderful storytelling of the series. The contributor lists reads like a veritable who's who of 1980s stars. Some creators were getting their earliest work on the title and crafting a lasting legacy in the pages of Thundercats. Just look at some of these incredible contributors:
BRETT BREEDING
Brett began his professional comics career in the late ‘70s as an inker on various Marvel and DC titles. When the House of Ideas launched Thundercats in 1985, he helped bring its colorful cast of characters to life on the page—and even a few covers—in stunning detail. From here, Brett would go on to leave an indelible mark on DC’s Superman titles throughout the 1990s, inking several fan-favorite storylines and co-creating a number of key supporting characters, including the deadly Doomsday.
DAVID MICHELINE
Does this man really need an introduction? Everyone knows David Michelinie as the co-creator behind standout Marvel fixtures like Venom and Carnage, but his resume boasts stints with just about every major comic book publisher, from Image to DC and everything in between. In addition to his seven-year run on The Amazing Spider-Man, his other credits include memorable turns on Action Comics, Iron Man, and Valiant’s H.A.R.D. Corps.
JIM MOONEY
A legend of the Bronze and Silver Ages, Jim Mooney was a giant of the comic book industry long before the Thundercats made their small-screen debut. Acclaimed runs on Supergirl and The Spectacular Spider-Man made him a household name among readers, and his penchant for drawing young superheroes made him a natural fit to launch Thundercats with David Michelinie in the mid ‘80s. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 88.
What did comics look like four decades ago? They were printed on cheap newsprint (for those of us who have ever read a newspaper - you know how coarse that is) and were printed with a four color printing process. There were no scans or digital files. Everything was shot on film and transfered to the presses. The end result was a cozy comic with a bit of heft and some pretty saturated colors.
To create this new Thundercats Omnibus project we had to obtain all those old issues, scan them, and then send them to a graphic designer to resmaster the colors. The work took quite a while - we are talking about nearly 600 pages of comics - but when it was finished the pages looked great! Now we are printing them on beautiful ultra white coated paper that makes the detail stand out. These new editions are the way you want the stories to be preserved. With the utmost care and printed on a modern press.
