Once upon a time in the infinite and ever-changing Great Library, a memory was stolen from the powerful and enigmatic Scryptwyrm. You are the Librarian's apprentice who must investigate the theft and return that memory.
Song of the Scryptwyrm is a solo mystery game that slowly reveals the culprit as you gather information from places, people, and things around the Great Library. It is a stand-alone game that can optionally be played as a sequel to the CRIT Award-winning game The Librarian’s Apprentice, inviting you to continue your journey of becoming a Librarian.
Immerse yourself immediately in the story, learning the rules as you play.
Gather information with the aid of your training, your familiar, and your Collection - a small oracle deck that reinforces the themes of the Library.
Create your own ritual for reading your Collection and use it to flavor your experiences.
Populate the Library with provided characters and locations, or create your own.
Explore the game documents for hidden and coded messages.
And as part of Pocketopia, I’m teaming up with TTRPGkids.com, who are launching a collection of gamified greeting cards and postcards. If you back both of our projects, I’ll be adding a postcard from Great Library to your pledge, but it’s not just a postcard. You can also make it part of your Collection, expanding the themes available to you when you play!
Song of the Scryptwyrm is a hack of the Hints & Hijinx solo mystery game system from Pandion Games and uses only human-made art, including elements from Alderdoodle, Galen Pejeau, Emily Entner, and the public domain.
