I have escaped into the world of Valdemar since I was 13. I learned so many things that my parents were hiding from me. Like the existence of LGBT+ people and acceptance. I found in Valdemar a place where you could believe what you wanted and didn’t have to believe what your parents wanted you to. You could be yourself and that was ok. Valdemar was such a freeing place in my restricted little life and gave me so much hope. And joy. I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t found Magic’s Pawn one day. I honestly believe that Mercedes’ books have literally saved my life.
