Natalie Lynn Bates is a musician, singer-songwriter, and author in B.C., Canada.
As a musician, Natalie Lynn is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and trombone player who was raised on country music and somehow grew up to be a jazz musician. She plays folk-roots music with shades of blues, swing, country, and acoustic pop and writes songs that hopefully make you laugh or make you think. She is also a trombone player and vocalist with the Okanagan Valley Big Band.
As N. L. Bates, she writes science fiction, fantasy, and slipstream stories, and is the moderator of the long-running critique group Reading Excuses. Her short fiction appears in multiple anthologies from Space Wizard Science Fantasy. She filks occasionally, usually by accident.
When she isn't making noise or writing about things that make noise, Natalie enjoys biking, dancing, boxing, resin crafting, and tabletop RPGs.
