Fundado en 2020, el sello Comikaze Books es dirigido por Marina Gil y Jorge Tovalín, cofundadores de Comikaze, revista independiente dedicada a promover la cultura del cómic en México desde 2008. Ambos han colaborado (ya sea por separado o como equipo) con las principales editoriales de cómic en México, y con los artistas gráficos Augusto Mora, Luis Alberto Villegas, Martín López, Janeth Bazaldúa y Jorge Aviña, con quienes publicaron, respectivamente, los artbooks "Bazaldúa's Girls" y "Wanted", gracias a dos exitosas campañas en Kickstarter realizadas en 2021 y 2022.
