Pulp Hummock Press

Pulp Hummock Press was founded by Robert Alderman in 2019. Robert holds an MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction) from The University of South Florida. He has published fiction and poetry in So It Goes: The Literary Journal of the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library, The Wrath-Bearing Tree, Proud to Be: Writing by American Warriors, The Mailer Review, Door is a Jar, and various other literary magazines. His poem "Watch for the Patterns, Watch for the Wires" won the Center for American Literary Studies (CALS) "Secret" contest in 2015, and was later published in Southeast Missouri State University Press's Proud to Be: Writing by American Warriors, Volume 6. He was a semi-finalist for The Poet's Billow 2013 Atlantis Award. In 2011, he won the Scholarly and Creative Excellence Award in the Fine Arts at the University of South Florida.

Robert has taught creative and persuasive writing in higher-education for over 11 years including at The Pennsylvania State University, The University of Delaware, and The University of South Florida. He also served 8 years in the U.S. Army.

Robert started playing RPG's as a kid, when his father introduced him and his little brother, Marc, to Milton Bradley's Heroquest, which they all played together every Saturday afternoon during an unforgettable summer. During a short stint in the Boy Scouts, Robert made friends with a group of older guys who introduced him to the charm of AD&D 2nd Edition. (Planescape became Robert's favorite campaign setting.) Eventually, he moved on to 3rd, 4th, and 5th Edition, but his passion for tabletop games came full-circle with the discovery of the OSR, which he has ardently supported for the past decade. Now, Robert hopes his OSR-compatible products bring joy, nostalgia, and a sense of wonder to other players around the world.
