Edmond Dantes

During my time of imprisonment at the Château d'If, I developed an unexpected interest in the Dungeon Crawl Classics role-playing game. Unjustly condemned for treason. The loneliness and injustice of my cell were unbearable, but this game offered me an escape from this oppressive reality.

It all began with the discovery of a secret game manual, forgotten under an old mattress by a previous prisoner. Immersed in the medieval-fantasy world of Dungeon Crawl Classics, I created imaginary characters, explored fictitious dungeons and battled fantastical creatures. It was my way of escaping mentally.

Gradually, other inmates joined me, and we formed an underground gaming group. Together, we devised epic quests and used our ingenuity to simulate secret dice rolls. Gaming became a refuge, forging invaluable friendships and cultivating team spirit among us.

Year after year, I perfected my strategy, strengthening my negotiation, observation and puzzle-solving skills. The skills I acquired through Dungeon Crawl Classics became essential to avenge myself on those who had unjustly condemned me, once I had succeeded in escaping from the Château d'If and recovering the treasure hidden on the island of Monte Cristo. This role-playing game forged my determination, insight and ability to maneuver in a world that had become my own creation, just as it shaped the Count of Monte Cristo I have become.
